Six years ago today, my life changed.

What was supposed to be routine turned into sepsis and emergency surgery. Since then, it’s been chronic pain, major diet changes, anxiety and days where I’ve really struggled mentally.

There have been hard as hell days. Angry days. But there have also been some of the best memories, so many giggles, real happiness and a version of me I’m really proud of.

Nine scars later, I see strength. I see someone who learned how to advocate for herself. I see a version of me who keeps going, even when it feels extremely heavy.

These six photos hold some of the highs from the past six years. The lows are part of my story too. And both get to exist at the same time.

All of this to say: you are more capable than you think. Stronger than you know. And sometimes the life that is totally different still gets to be beautiful and wonderful and great.

And honestly… who needs all of their intestines or a salad anyway? 😅 by @kaylareecee

“It’s hard to put into words what Rylee means to me but I’ll try my best. She’s my best friend, my world and my person. Getting to watch her grow up and become the incredible person she is today has been the greatest honor.” by @kaylareecee
