Words cannot express the sadness I feel losing this sweet, special, loving, kind man I get to call my grandpa. He was the most special person in my life who I loved whole heartdly more than anyone knows. He was the strongest man I knew, who fought so hard to continue this life with us. The memories I hold I will forever cherish and never forget. He made me feel safe, supported, and so proud to be his granddaughter. Some of my favorite memories are the simple moments, the conversations, the laughs, the way he could make everything feel okay just by being there and others like picking me up from school, pushing me in the red wagon, the Italian festival, “sick noodles”, watching movies together, holidays, mud hen baseball game, vacations, birthday parties, playing pool together, dinners, hospital trips, and so many more. The impact he made in my life I am forever grateful for. He taught me so much in life, about strength, about kindness, about showing up for the people you love no matter what. My heart is broken, but I find comfort knowing how much love he gave and how many lives he touched. Although I feel so lost and unsure how to navigate this life without you, I promise I will honor you grandpa by living with the same strength and love that you showed every single day.
