Wow. What a night.⁠
⁠
Winning Young Entrepreneur of the Year at the Ridge Meadows Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Awards has me feeling incredibly grateful and, honestly, still a little shocked.⁠
⁠
I genuinely mean it when I say I was just honoured to be nominated. To be recognized alongside some truly amazing entrepreneurs was incredible. I fully expected to be clapping for someone else last night. So when my name was called? Let’s say ‘prepared speech’ was not part of my plan.⁠
⁠
But if I could go back and say what I wish I’d said on stage, here’s what it would be:⁠

At Markayting, we believe marketing shouldn’t feel overwhelming. It should feel exciting, empowering, and strategic. That’s why we work so hard to help businesses build meaningful connections, stand out, and grow with purpose.⁠

I’m so proud of what we’ve built, but I didn’t build it alone.⁠

To my incredible team and extended team including those who celebrated with me last night— @marissastack @rosemarymarch_ @heyaishwarya — thank you for being part of this journey with me. Your creativity, ideas, and hard work make Markayting what it is today.⁠

To my family: especially Kevin, Linden, and Everly, thank you for being my biggest cheerleaders. Thank you for understanding that sometimes “working for yourself” means answering emails late at night, taking calls on vacation, or scheduling family time around client launches. I couldn’t do this without you and I’m so proud that my kids get to see their mom doing work she loves, on her own terms.⁠

This award feels humbling because after five years in business, I know this is still just the beginning. There’s so much more to learn, build, and achieve. I can’t wait to see what’s next.⁠

A room doesn’t have to be loud to have personality.

Deep burgundy, floral wallpaper, soft textiles and a touch of pink come together in this cozy room.

Each layer adds something different without competing with the rest of the space.

You’d never know there’s a bed hiding in this room. What looks like a wall of custom cabinetry is actually hiding a Murphy bed, allowing this space to function as a full-time home office and transform into a guest room when needed.

A huge shoutout to @storxorganizingsystems for helping bring this custom piece to life and turning the idea into something that works so seamlessly in the space.

Because the office is its primary purpose, we didn’t want it to feel like a guest bedroom waiting for someone to arrive. We leaned into the person using it every day, giving the room a moodier, more masculine feel while still creating somewhere warm and inviting for guests.

The deep brown cabinetry became the backdrop for the entire space, paired with aged brass hardware and decorative backplates to give the millwork more character and depth.

Leather, brass and darker finishes continue throughout the room, balanced by lighter wood tones so the space still feels warm rather than heavy.

We layered our lighting, so the feeling of the room can change with how it’s being used, brighter when you’re working, softer when you want a little more ambience.

It’s an office most of the time. A guest room when it needs to be. And a good example of why a room doesn’t necessarily need more square footage, sometimes it just needs to work harder.

So proud of Linden after his second year at Canucks Camp. 🏒💙

I’m always proud of how hard he works on his hockey, but this week I was especially proud of him for receiving the Respect Award at camp.

His coaches told us that after every ice session, Linden made a point of saying thank you and giving his coaches fist bumps, and that he was always willing to help his teammates in the dressing room, including helping untie their skates. Hearing those little things meant just as much to us as anything he did on the ice.

Linden said his second year of Canucks Camp was amazing. He loved all the ice time, floor hockey, the different experiences and, of course, his favourite part was the game!

He thought it was pretty incredible to meet Daniel Sedin, Kirk McLean, Mason Raymond, Hannah Miller, Jenn Gardiner, Justin Pogge, and Cliff Ronning (and of course Finn), and he loved spending the week having fun with his friends.

He also wanted to give a special shoutout to his coaches. He said they were really helpful, taught him a lot and made the week so much fun.

A space made for working, hosting, and making the most out of every square foot.

@greyspace.designs definitely had her work cut out for her with Kevin’s office, because this room needed to function as both a usable office space and a guest bedroom. Not exactly the easiest combo, but somehow she made it feel intentional, practical, and still so good.

The hide-a-bed in the wall by @stor_xnorthshoreridgemeadows was the perfect solution. It gives Kevin the office space he needs day to day, while still making room for guests when we need it.

It feels clean, functional, and completely tailored to how the room actually needs to be used.

Kevin loves his office, and I love that this room now works so much harder for our home.

A room made for our little floral-loving, unicorn-dreaming, vintage-pretty girl.

We wanted Everly’s space to feel sweet, magical, and totally her, while still being something she can grow with over the years. A little whimsical, a little vintage, and a whole lot of pretty.

From the soft florals to the unicorn touches, every detail feels like it was made for her little personality. It has that dreamy, storybook feel without being too babyish, which makes it feel special now and still beautiful as she gets older.

The extra care and finishing touches in this room really brought it all together. It feels soft, feminine, playful, and full of charm.

She loves it, and honestly, my heart can barely handle it. Thank you so much @greyspace.designs

A room made for our little hockey-loving, soccer-playing, clubhouse-hanging guy.

We wanted Linden’s space to feel fun, playful, and totally him, while still being something he can grow with. A little sporty, a little cool, and a whole lot of personality. @greyspace.designs added special touches like a signed Trevor Linden stick and framed posters from Linden’s first @jrcanucks camp last summer to make it even more meaningful.

Of course, his room wouldn’t be complete without a Whitecaps corner and a place to hang all his medals. The extra care and finishing touches in this room, including hockey stick side tables and vintage hockey skates, really make this room something spectacular.

He loves it, and honestly, so do we.

Sometimes letting the experts do their thing REALLY pays off.

Last day of Pre-K. Last day of Grade 1.

Somehow another school year has come and gone.

We may have lost our traditional last-day signs in the move, but we still asked the important questions. And of course, we had to add their favourite song from this year: End of Beginning.

Everly wants to be a figure skater and a hockey player when she grows up. She loves her mom, dad, brother, hockey, and skating. She’s most excited for kindergarten so she can learn new things and see her big brother every day.

Linden wants to be an NHL defenceman. He loves hockey, soccer, and playing with his friends. Looking ahead to Grade 2, he’s excited to keep playing with his friends and make some new ones too.

Happy International Women’s Day.

A little shoutout to the women behind Markayting. This team is fully female and we are ridiculously proud of it. Smart, creative, hardworking women who care deeply about the work we do and the businesses we support.

We also have the privilege of working with so many incredible female-led and female-supported businesses. Founders, owners, leaders, creators. Women building things from the ground up, taking risks, supporting their teams, and making big things happen in our communities.

Getting to support and market these businesses every day is something we don’t take lightly.
