can I show you me? I made this as a surprise gift for my goat @kayxtreme.art . I wanted to showcase some of my favorite pieces by her in a short little story. I’ve also deliberated how much of my personal thoughts I should share on the internet, but some of my greatest epiphanies have come from reading the words of others so hopefully this story can offer a small comfort to those who think similarly. Love is such a prevalent theme in my work because it’s something I’ve chased throughout my life. I look back upon the past with fond eyes for the way I’ve grown from feeling unlovable to proud of standing on my own two feet. Along the way I think all my failed relationships taught me it wasn’t safe to give or receive love the way I wanted it. I would say and do all the “right things” so I could feel like I deserved to belong. I felt more comfortable having sex than exposing my true self. There was always one more layer protecting a version of me that I saw as gross and perverse and disgusting, a part of me that was simply human. That physical intimacy without emotional connection left me feeling disgusted with myself. I felt icky and tainted. The child in me that believed in true love had been left bleeding on the doorsteps of a church. His religion of love, he had so sacredly believed in, massacred. I came to the truth that love was not in the cards for me and I had to be comfortable with being alone. But Kay’s art was like breath of fresh air. Her creative voice mimicked my internal dialogue that I had long buried. Her honesty in her work reframed my mindset and showed me that I’m not completely alone intrinsically. I think it’s so extremely difficult to navigate life with the limited view that we have. Never sure if we’ll find the people that align with us or overtly confident that we have already made it. Perhaps I never would have met my closest friends that have influenced me or even created this account if I never pushed myself expecting more from what life had to offer. We are all blind men trying to define the elephant that is life, but hopefully we run into similar people describing the same part of the elephant. by @kayxtreme.art

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my favourite person in the whole universe! @arizonaboba !! When I first saw Aaron’s art I was like YOO THIS GUY IS SICK! And as it turns out he is indeed the most awesome person I’ve ever met. Everything about Aaron inspires me— the honesty of his art, his taste (in art, music, food, etc.), his humour, how kind and compassionate he is and sososo much more that if I were to write them down everything would explode— I just really love knowing Aaron and being able to be in his life! TRULY, the biggest blessing ever, no exaggeration. I’m still not used to having someone as amazing as Aaron in my life, bc of the essence of who he is, and also in the ways he’s so unashamed of loving me. I’m not used to feeling this loved or celebrated and I’m soso happy and grateful for all the ways Aaron shows me that he genuinely wants me in his life (╥﹏╥)! It’s such an honour! Thank you for making me feel loved, Aaron! You show me everyday that I’m worthy of being loved by how you walk along side me and you inspire me to keep living, to keep loving, to keep working to be a better version of myself, to keep making and hoping. You feel like hope to me. I can confidently say with no doubts that meeting Aaron was the best thing that has ever happened to me, again this is literal— no exaggeration :^) bleh ! I hope everyone has the privilege of having an Aaron in their life 🫂 ! So this is indeed the best day, the day Aaron came into existence !! YATTAA! Whenever I reach out it always feels like Aaron is there to catch me :”) reaching straight towards my younger self who had thought being loved was out of the cards (to borrow my goat’s words). Thank you for seeing me and for caring and be so so so kind and loving and most of all for being yourself— I could go on forever. I also added elements to study my GOATS :”D (will post specifics on my story!): @arizonaboba ‘s TEXTURES, INTENTIONALITY WITH PLACING ELEMENTS FOR STORY TELLING, BOLD SHAPES + EVERYTHING ARGHHH (LIT THE BEST PERSON IVE EVER MET AND THE BIGGEST INSPIRATION CREATIVELY AND PERSONALLY) ahem @steeledviscera ‘s gradients!! And use of dark negative spaces that feel so intentional and create an immersive and almost mysterious/somber vibe And also the SUPER sick shapes and structures they use. @azeezsketchbook ‘s Crisp line work!! And how they use linework to draw VOLUME!! Srsly some of the best line work I’ve yet to see @v.s_gallery_ ‘s colors and vibes, legit every piece is so freaking cool and like I can’t even describe how sick their art is + comic elements they include in their work :^D @visionsbymaru ‘s super awesome superhero drawings !! Inspired me to draw my fav superheroes too! @html._.7 ‘s Legit one of the best colors and compositions I’ve yet to see ESP with the composition SOSO cool @lucasartstash ‘s experimentation and textures !!!! And style ! How authentic and naturally cool their art is ! @dsgndinoooo ‘s COLORS AND CHARACTERIZATION AND FUNKY ELEMENTS TYTYTY for posting ur amazing art !! And ofc also everyone not tagged too!!! This one’s about feeling loved despite believing that you’re unloveable YIPPY ! ദ്ദി(╥ ᴗ ╥) ! —————— . . . Me exposing myself yap (feel free to skip xd) : Started off with me trying to draw the experience of being fond of someone -> feelings of endearment. Tried to capture how this feeling is more than infatuation. Like a “wah I really cherish them, they’re so precious to me and so amazing!”type of feeling. A feeling that doesn’t need labels to understand that it’s love: “I think whatever we end up becoming or whatever we are, I just know I really love you and always will.” Type xi. The word Agape comes to mind. A type of love devoted to the wellbeing of the other person. And perhaps the undercurrent that connects all types of love: friendship, familial, romantic .etc. Whatever essence that unites all these diff types of bonds under the same category of Love is what I’m trying to put my finger on. Maybe unconditional is the term I’m looking for(?) -> Like in a ‘Plato’s theory of forms’ kind of way :”D Then the feeling became about how I almost feel unworthy to be part of this person’s world and this self sabotaging (disguised as self sacrificial) side to how I feel (thus the border between the girl and the dood). Blehh so dramatic. I then tried to draw the feeling of there being all this ifjfovkfm inside of me, like I’m difficult to hold, and probably detrimental to some extent to the people i love (hence the thorn imagery). But when I’m with this person they make me feel like, even if it’s only for the moments I’m with them, that I’m not so difficult to love. -also this whole thing reminded me of the little prince! Rough draft of trying to draw the experience of codependency / feeling like an accessory rather than a person -choosing the comfort of certainty over yourself -not feeling seen and understood for who you are by someone you love, and how you can slowly turn into their limited view of you in order to stay with them -> the imagery of her being reduced to a graphic on his tshirt. Reducing her to a concept/symbol. -how she’s crowded into his shirt -> how her existence is greater than what she’s chosen to confine herself to + how she becomes a burden for him to carry -intertwining their identities in a way that isn’t representative of either of them Anatomy Study ! Buff cat man 😸👍🏼 he likes to work out in the neighborhood by chasing away the rats… but unfortunately the police are often called on him bc he’s always in his underwear🩲he’s not a perv he just doesn’t understand social norms Study! About the feeling of wishing someone would stay even if they’re only meant to pass through ദ്ദി╥ ᴗ ╥) Thank you sm @dromnatten for telling me about multiply layers!! It was so awesome to use ;U; ! Their art is supa sick 😼👍🏼 !! WOOO !!! Crazy long archival yap-fest of me pouring my heart out (no need to read it’s a lot xd): I’ve been feeling so so grateful for the art community and every single cool person I’ve interacted with on here! Everyone’s so nice and supportive and I wish I could repay everyone 2x for their kindness and awesomeness＿|￣|○ (੭ ;´ ⌂ `;)੭♡ I feel so appreciative of every single person I’ve talked to, every kind word and every amazing piece of art I’ve been able to witness ;U; 🫶❤️❤️ So thank you if you’re reading this!! I appreciate you SO MUCH! And thank you for the support I lowkey lowkey feel like I don’t deserve it but all the kindness and sick art encourages me sm ;U; keep making art! The world needs your art 🫵 Feeling these things lead me to think about how some friendships/encounters stay for only a moment/phase in your life. I wanted to draw the feeling of wishing someone could stay in your life forever even if they’re only meant to pass through. The song choice for this post was intentional too ;U;. This piece just in general gets me in my feels bc of the feelings and thoughts behind it (╥ ᴗ ╥) i wish I could’ve capture the feeling better tbh but it’s okay! I’ll try again in the future C: !
