Panning a trip soon? ✈️

Whether it’s for vacation, business, or school, it’s important to know exactly what your group benefits plan covers before you leave.

Here are 5 key things to keep in mind about Out-of-Province travel coverage:

1️⃣ Stay covered at home first – You (and any dependants) must be enrolled in your provincial health plan to be eligible for out-of-province benefits.

2️⃣ Reciprocal agreements aren’t perfect – While provinces often work together, some providers may refuse out-of-province cards and ask for payment upfront.

3️⃣ Know your gaps – Many group plans don’t cover trip interruption, cancellation, or baggage loss. Review your policy so there are no surprises.

4️⃣ High-risk destinations – Some plans exclude medical assistance in certain countries. Always check the exclusions list.

5️⃣ Coverage timelines matter – Most plans cover you for 60–90 days. If you’re away longer, you may need additional individual coverage.
