Life is eternal; and love is immortal; and death is only a horizon; and a horizon is nothing save the limit of our sight.

My dad would have been 104 today. I haven’t seen him in 38 years. Funny how you can still miss a person. Maybe it’s more that you can feel the void they left, it grows with time as there are more things you missed. by @kazoole

More Cyanotype experimentations, this time on brown paper. I have the dastardly habit of overworking things and making them look clumsy. Oh well, no point in experimentation if you don’t mess up. The brown makes the blue read more navy/black and the white pop.
Layered slide cyanotype on brown paper with water color and white gouache #wip stages of destruction

The angel by William Blake
I Dreamt a Dream! what can it mean?
And that I was a maiden Queen:
Guarded by an Angel mild:
Witless woe, was ne'er beguil'd!

And I wept both night and day
And he wip'd my tears away
And I wept both day and night
And hid from him my hearts delight

So he took his wings and fled:
Then the morn blush'd rosy red:
I dried my tears & armed my fears,
With ten thousand shields and spears.

Soon my Angel came again;
I was arm'd, he came in vain:
For the time of youth was fled,
And grey hairs were on my head. by @kazoole

First stage of cyanotypes, all layered or ā€œcollagedā€ images save one. Harder to get good images as there has been less sun. Tried a new paper this time and I like how it changed the image to be printed on brown paper instead of white. Next paint! WIP by @kazoole

Cyanotype collage with watercolor and white gouache

This one took me far longer to print than usual and I didn’t end up painting my favorite one. Included are my different attempts as well as the two pics I used to morph together with mixed results by @kazoole

Cyanotype with watercolor and white gouache.
I took this selfie a year ago in the redwoods and this year returned to the exact same spot and used ferns from the same trail it was taken to print the picture and ferns together. Then while still in the woods I painted it. So the picture was taken, printed and painted all in the same woods.
First time doing camping Cyanotype. Did multiple different versions until I ran out of paper. Mixed results but notable experience doing it all in the wilderness. Work in progress.

The hills were alive with wildflowers and I
Was as wild, even wilder than they
For at least I could run
They just died in the sun
And I refused to just wither in place
Just a wild mountain rose
Needing freedom to grow
So I ran fearing not where I’d go
When a flower grows wild
It can always survive
Wildflowers don’t care where they grow
And the flowers I knew
In the fields where I grew
Were content to be lost in the crowd
They were common and close
I had no room for growth
And I wanted so much to branch out
So I uprooted myself from my home ground and left
Took my dreams and I took to the road
When a flower grows wild
It can always survive
Wildflowers don’t care where they grow
I grew up fast and wild
And I never felt right
In a garden so different from me
I just never belonged
I just longed to be gone
So the garden one day set me free
I hitched a ride with the wind
And since he was my friend
I just let him decide where we’d go
When a flower grows wild
It can always survive
Wildflowers don’t care where they grow
Just a wild rambling rose seeking mysteries untold
No regret for the path that I chose
When a flower grows wild
It can always survive
Wildflowers don’t care where they grow

New cyanotype experiment, five different attempts (4 stages of one at the end) at an archaic face swap (new series). Each with different levels of watercolor and white gouache #wip

«Turn To Stone»

The city streets are empty now
(The lights don’t shine no more)
And so the songs are way down low
(Turning, turning, turning)
A sound that flows into my mind
(The echoes of the daylight)
Of everything that is alive
(In my blue world)

I turn to stone, when you are gone
I turn to stone
Turn to stone, when you comin’ home?
I can’t go on

The dying embers of the night
(A fire that slowly fades till dawn)
Still glow upon the wall so bright
(Turning, turning, turning)
The tired streets that hide away
(From here to everywhere they go)
Roll past my door into the day
In my blue world

I turn to stone, when you are gone
I turn to stone
Turn to stone, when you comin’ home?
I can’t go on
Turn to stone, when you are gone
I turn to stone

Yes, I’m turnin’ to stone ā€˜cause you ain’t comin’ home
Why ain’t you comin’ home If I’m turnin’ to stone
You’ve been gone for so long and I can’t carry on
Yes, I’m turnin’, I’m turnin’, I’m turnin’ to stone

The dancing shadows on the wall
(The two step in the hall)
Are all I’ve seen since you’ve been gone
(Turning, turning, turning)
Through all I sit here and I wait
(I turn to stone, I turn to stone)
You will return again someday
To my blue world

I turn to stone, when you are gone
I turn to stone
Turn to stone, when you comin’ home?
I can’t go on
Turn to stone, when you are gone
I turn to stone
I turn to stone, when you are gone
I turn to stone
Turn to stone, when you comin’ home?
I can’t go on
Turn to stone, when you are gone
