Bespoke design: The Butterflies Folding Screen, a handmade masterpiece, draws inspiration from the Art Deco period when straw marquetry experienced a renaissance, reclaiming its former glory under the skilled hands of renowned French decorators. Paying homage to that era, this screen features delicate and intricate butterfly patterns that symbolize transformation and freedom, evoking a sense of renewal.

Project: A Fireplace as a statement piece

Katerina designed Studio deliberately as an apartment: around 100 m‘ on the corner of the Weinplatz, in the house that was the guildhall of the Zurich bakers‘ guild from 1495 until 1870 — the Zunft zum Weggen, which gave our lane its name.

The windows look over the Weinplatz, the Limmat, the Hotel Storchen and the towers of the Grossmünster.

Clients come to talk about their own homes, and are received in one — which is the argument of Katerina’s practice: that exceptional things and real comfort are not opposites. taken in Zürich, Switzerland by @kb.zurich

A vintage-style table finished in the Galuchat technique using stingray leather, - named after Jean-Claude Galluchat, master gainier (case-maker) to Louis XV, who popularised it at the French court in the 1740s for snuffboxes, étuis and small caskets, - available to view in Zurich 🩵 taken in Zürich, Switzerland by @kb.zurich

Our first family trip of the summer had one fixed destination: PAD Saint-Tropez, the fair’s very first edition on the Place des Lices. We landed the day the boys’ school holidays began and made it just in time for the closing day.

Inside: a village built on fishermen and reinvented by art, design and fashion — my sons finding their own reasons to stop and look, and the story I always look for behind a beautiful object.
