POSTS STORIES REELS

My mother could see a future in me before I had the language to describe it.

Peace Family…

I think about that when I hold a microphone. How a voice carries the people who first made room for it. How much of what we call confidence begins with being loved closely enough to be understood.

Years later, I’m still learning to extend that kind of attention to others.

To hear the idea beneath the hesitation.
To recognize leadership before it has a title.
To leave room for someone to surprise me.

The longer I do this work, the more careful I become with the stories we tell about people. A difficult chapter can follow someone for years. Their growth deserves witnesses, too.

That is part of what Human Justice means to me: our institutions must make room for people to become. Our decisions, our resources, and our willingness to share power should reflect that possibility.

This photograph catches my voice. So many people helped me find it.

Who helped you hear something in yourself you hadn’t yet learned to trust?

Give them their flowers. I’m giving my Muma hers. 🌹

Peace Family!

Yesterday, I had the honor of visiting Sing Sing to co-facilitate a reading of my brother Bryonn’s new screenplay. It was a powerful experience to be in community, share in the creative process, and witness the talent, insight, and humanity present in the room.

Much gratitude to Sean Pica and the amazing Hudson Link team for the invitation, the warm welcome, and your continued commitment to education, opportunity, and human dignity.

A special shout-out to Jermaine and the Rehabilitation Through the Arts (RTA) family for the meaningful work you do to create space for artistic expression, healing, and transformation.

To my brother Bryonn, thank you for sharing your vision and allowing me to be part of this moment. And to everyone who participated in the reading: thank you for your openness, creativity, and generosity.

Experiences like this remind us of the power of storytelling to connect us, affirm our shared humanity, and open doors to new possibilities.

Human Rights + Human Development = Human Justice.

Putting the PUBLIC back in PUBLIC SAFETY.

In Austin for the Scaling Safety Symposium, contributing to panels and moderating discussions on building safer communities—with Human Justice at the center.

Safety is not simply the absence of violence. It is the presence of dignity, opportunity, and communities equipped to lead.

From NYC to Austin, our charge is clear: invest in people, strengthen partnerships, and turn community expertise into policy and practice.

Grateful to the leaders and partners moving this work forward—together.

Our children need futures—not labels.

A suspension is an event. Disproportionality is a pattern. Changing the pattern requires changing the system.

Today’s conversation with LIU’s Center for Community Inclusion brought school discipline, dignity, and community responsibility into the same frame.

Human Rights + Human Development = Human Justice.

That means asking more than “What rule was broken?” It means asking: What support was missing? Whose voice was heard? What needs to change in the system?

We can hold young people accountable without giving up on their belonging, development, or future.

Thank you to Dorothy Santana, LMSW, Culturally Responsive Education Specialist; Haley McKee, Behavior Specialist; and the entire CCI team. Appreciation to Dr. Dalia Fahmy and the LIU Youth Justice Hub leadership for the ongoing partnership and co-leadership with CCD—and to my fellow panelists for helping move this conversation forward.

A handwritten note inside my copy of Richard O. Welsh’s Suspended Futures captures the commitment:

“Keep on changing lives. And keep disrupting discipline disparities.”

From schools to communities, let’s build more pathways to learning, healing, and leadership.

Share this with an educator, parent, or community leader ready to be part of that work.

My son. My co-facilitator. My heart. ❤️

At Braid Mill in Philadelphia, Global Bain joined Roca and community violence intervention leaders from across the city for diplomacy training rooted in dignity, trust, and Human Justice.

Standing beside my son, Kaiso Kalif Bain, made this day especially meaningful. Son, sharing this work with you—and watching you bring your own voice into the room—is an honor.

Respect to every leader doing the daily work of building safer communities. Making room for the next generation to lead is part of that responsibility.

Human Rights + Human Development = Human Justice.

Who inspired the way you lead? Give them their flowers below. 👇🏾

TWO BROTHERS. ONE LEGACY. A MOVEMENT STILL BUILDING.

Professor Bryonn Bain carries justice through art, scholarship and prison education.

I work to protect the vision, connect the leaders and build the infrastructure that moves Human Justice into action.

Different paths. Shared purpose.

Human Rights + Human Development = Human Justice.

On October 12, we bring that purpose into the streets of New York City for the Human Justice March.

To the leaders, institutions, artists and community builders ready to help shape what comes next:

Walk with us.
Build with us.
Bring your people.

Flowers for my brother—and an open invitation to everyone prepared to move Human Justice forward. 🌹

Who belongs in this movement? Tag them below.

A father’s greatest legacy is not what he leaves behind—it is what he leaves within his children.

To hear my daughter say that my sacrifices, discipline and belief live through her is a reward beyond words. These are the flowers that matter most. 🤎

Why Jackson, Mississippi —and why now?

Because safety cannot be separated from history, geography, or power.

Jackson families are grieving recent violence while Mississippi again confronts painful evidence of racial hatred and institutional failure. This is ground marked by segregation and racial terror—but also by extraordinary Black resistance, leadership, and imagination.

To build here carries meaning and responsibility.

At the Scaling Safety Summit, we asked what must exist for safety to endure: housing, healing, economic opportunity, credible leadership, and community power.

Susan Burton’s work creating housing and pathways forward for formerly incarcerated women proves that housing is public-safety infrastructure—a principle connected directly to our work at the RISE Center in Brooklyn.

Aqeela Sherrills brought the wisdom of decades advancing healing and community-owned safety. Rey Chavis brought the disciplined experience of the Newark Community Street Team. Lenore Anderson connected lived experience to policy, advocacy, and investment with clarity and purpose.

Respect to Living With Purpose, Operation Good, and Strong Arms of JXN—the Jackson organizations carrying this work every day.

Now we must ask:

Will institutions fund community leadership at the scale of their public statements?

Will local organizations be treated as vendors—or as co-architects of safety?

Through the Human Justice Framework, I remain committed to helping cities, foundations, and communities move from responding to harm toward building the conditions in which people can thrive.

If your institution is ready for that deeper conversation, let’s build.
