Decay of natural latex sheets from Resonance in Liminal Matters, shown at @odaysfestival .Through interaction with attendees, exposure to environmental elements and the vibrations of sound, the natural latex sheets split and degraded over the three days. Resonance in Liminal Matters is an interactive pavilion that transforms music into textured, light-reactive surfaces, translating ephemeral sound into spatial, tactile experiences. Using generative design tools, music is converted into 3D-printed molds for casting biodegradable latex skins.

Exhibited at @odaysfestival , the result is a luminous structure that invites reflection, rest, and connection through shifting silhouettes and shared encounters. Built from modular, reusable components, the pavilion prioritises circular design and adaptability, evolving with each new context. It functions not as a final form, but as an ongoing exploration of how sound, material, time and architecture can resonate together.

Exhibition Design for Bacteria Babies at Kontejner, Zagreb. The exhibition features bacteria cellulose sheets, each with unique qualities, carefully suspended in the air to highlight their distinct textures, colours, and translucency. Six pairs of hanging LED lights are strategically placed, allowing visitors to intimately inspect the sheets up close. A table at the centre of the installation offers additional context, displaying fragments from the production process and providing access to a digital archive, all surrounded by the ethereal sheets of bacteria.

Open House was positioned in the middle of the @pitchmusicandarts arena, making it a natural stop between stages. It offered festival-goers a chance to regroup with friends or take a breather amidst all the excitement, allowing people to chill and recharge.

Leglo - Three is a crowd but an unspecified amount is a party.

Leglo focuses on the relationship between humans and bacteria, showcasing how they can collaborate with simple ingredients to cultivate the biomaterial- bacteria cellulose. The installation, which is designed as a nest - or leglo in Croatian, brings together these actors within close proximity, creating interdependent relationships between the two and making their interactions tangible through the growth of a bacteria cellulose sheet. by @7.37.pm__

Some of the ‘Bacteria Babies’ grown throughout the project in Vienna and Pula with over 60 participants taking part. Each sheet is grown through fermentation and then is dried into a usable material. Along with the successful growth of bacterial cellulose, ‘Bacteria Babies’ celebrates the fact that, in addition to new sustainable and eco-friendly materials with yet unexplored properties, it is also possible to cultivate the spirit of DIY and foster active engagement and collaboration in one’s own community.

🦠 Last February, we presented the exhibition Bacteria Babies: Sip & See at @kontejner_org ‘s gallery space in Zagreb, Croatia.

Bacteria Babies is an installation made of bacterial cellulose, the result of an experimental research-artistic project conducted in 2023 in Vienna (AT) and Pula (HR) in collaboration with more than 60 participants. These participants welcomed ‘bacteria babies’ into their homes, workplaces, and institutions, caring for them with varying degrees of success. The project’s focus lies at the intersection of decentralised and collective production of bio-material bacterial cellulose and experimentation with its material properties. Opening the project to external participants introduced numerous unforeseen situations, raised new questions, revealed the interests, knowledge, and fears of the community, and contributed to the interpretative richness of the project. In other words, the task that initially seemed simple began unravelling as complex and intricate layers of interdependencies.

Open House for @pitchmusicandarts was a house without a door. Visitors broke in through the windows to access the festival’s communal living room for a slice of home. During the festival, it offered a space for people to appropriate. So, whether they were in the mood to sleep, dance, or just relax - they could find a window, claim their spot, and enjoy the space!
