Explora Journeys entering river cruising is about more than simply adding another fleet. It’s a sign that the major cruise groups are beginning to think about the entire travel life of their guests.

Explora has signed a letter of intent to build luxury river ships, with sales expected to open in 2027. We don’t yet have itineraries, ship designs, or a first sailing date — but the announcement alone is significant.

I’ve sailed Explora and have brought high-value clients onboard, so I’ve seen firsthand how strongly guests respond to the product. For many of them, an Explora river cruise could feel like a natural next step — and an easier choice than moving to a river cruise line they don’t already know.

Explora has my attention because I know the ocean product, and I know the clients who love it. That doesn’t mean I’ll recommend a river ship based on the Explora name alone. I’ll want to see the itineraries, the time spent ashore, the inclusions, and ultimately the value compared with the established river cruise lines that already do this exceptionally well.

But one thing is certain…

This client was an extra-special one… my mom and dad. ❤️

This past week in Maui was one I will never forget. My sweet mom and dad took the original five back to Maui — no husbands, no kids, just us.

Of course we missed everyone at home, but having this time together, just the five of us, was such a gift. We laughed, shared amazing dinners and drinks, reminisced, and simply enjoyed being together.

These are the moments that become the memories we hold onto forever.

I feel so incredibly blessed to still have both my mom and dad with us, and so thankful for the love they have given our family throughout the years and the way they continue to guide all of us.
