For those who don’t recognize this HISTORIC place. This is Joe Perkins Natatorium. This is where I spent half my childhood watching my Dad coach. This is where I worked my very first job, teaching swim lessons in the shallow end at 13. This is where my love of swimming started, where my “call to coach” started. This was my second home.
For anyone who has ever been in “The Nat”, it was special. The air was different (maybe it was the chlorine, maybe it was just the adrenaline in the air). When you were there, it felt like anything could happen...you felt like all your dreams COULD become a reality.

Motherhood has taught me to many things, about myself, about my child, and about the magical power of being a woman. We get to create, carry, and give life to baby humans! What is more magical? I’ve learned just how strong I am. I’ve also learned radical acceptance, patience, and an unconditional love that I never knew before. 🤍

As a coach, I'm used to the sidelines or in my case, the deck. It sure is fun watching your own kid fall in love with their sport on their own terms. A coach/mom dream all in one.

I wouldn't trade my Saturdays for anything else but watching #56 dominate the field. Watching him build his confidence, forge new friendships, do hard things when he's tired, have fun through the entire process is a reminder of why I am so passionate about youth sports.

Sport builds character through perseverance, discipline, determination, teamwork, commitment, trust, body awareness, the list goes on. If you know Slaiter, you'll see how much football has already changed him. This kid didn't talk until he was 4 is now spending 3 days after the game telling me about plays he made that he can't stop thinking about.

And that spark, that fire that's burning within, is exactly why. Can't wait to see it where sports take ya, buddy. I'll be here cheering for you every second of the way -- rain or shine, in all ways, always. 🩷 taken in Fort Worth, Texas by @kc.sinnott

The older I get, the more I realize how life is a full spectrum experience. It's full of love and loss, grief and joy, falling apart and finding yourself. There are parts of you that you shed, but you will always find a way back to yourself one way or another. Something I'm bringing with me into the next season of life is endless wonder, hope, and as much whimsy magic as I can muster up. Something I heard recently stuck with me "Be the things you loved in the ones you lost." So, I'm going to do more of that. Life is what you make it, and how you grow through it. 🧡 by @kc.sinnott

A few things about our 2nd grader, Slaiter.

⚡️ He loves Sonic, The Hedgehog and he loves to run.
⚡️ His favorite foods are pizza & chocolate chip cookies.
⚡️ He can tell you what kind of bird you are looking at and 3 facts about that bird, at any given time. (A hobby he shared with his PawPaw.)
⚡️ When he grows up, he wants to be either a Firefighter or a Zookeeper.

We had the best summer swimming, laughing, and soaking up time together. We love you and are so, so proud of you, Slaiter.
