https://www.kcur.org/history/2023-12-19/50-years-of-kansas-city-hip-hop-from-the-golden-age-to-modern-masters

Thanks to everyone who allowed me to come into their lives and learn more about the 50 years of Hip-hop in Kansas City.

To those who aren't mentioned we appreciate your contributions to the rap music scene and hip-hop culture of Kansas City.

Lastly, I would like to dedicate this piece to my mom, Victoria Lee Brooks. If it weren't for your musical influence throughout my life, I may have never taken the chance to do a story like this.

Mentioning you and the influence your infamous record collection had on my life was intentional. Not knowing a week after recording this episode you would leave this earth before you got a chance to hear it or read it in its entirety 😥😥. I know you'd be proud though.

Special thanks to @_macmartin @natural_suz and @lukexmartin
for making sure I got the finish line. I couldn't have done it without you.

I've done a lot of hard things in life, but yesterday was by far the most difficult.

R.I.P. Mommy. 😭😭😥😥

I wouldn't be the man I am today without your love, sacrifice and guidance.

Leaving the military in 2019 has been rough at times. But I wouldn't have gotten to spend these last three years with you if I stayed then. So, it turned out to be the best decision I ever made in hindsight.

I love you and I'll make sure all the Brooks boys keep your memory alive. by @kc_king82

Dec. 3, 2023, a day that changed my life forever.

I lost a significant part of me yesterday and I'm truly hurt.

Victoria Lee Brooks, I WILL FOREVER LOVE YOU!!!

I hope you understood that everything I've done in life was to make you proud and bring some happiness to your complicated existence.

I am sad and partially broken that our journey together is over. But I'm happy you're finally at peace now. 😥😥😢😢💔💔💔😭😭😭 by @kc_king82

Scrolling through SM for work, looked at my notifications, viewed my birthday reel and realized I left this extremely proud moment out. 🤦🏿‍♂️🤦🏿‍♂️🤦🏿‍♂️

That's what happens when you purposely limit your time interacting with the alternate realities these online spaces have created for us all. Lol.

But jokes aside, I really appreciate @chuckbrowneproductions and @bobbyjonline for allowing me and my daughter to contribute to this project.

There is no greater feeling for me than working as a collective to help each other reach goals or fulfill dreams.

This film did that for a lot of us!!

I'm extremely proud of all the cast and crew for their hard work and dedication to bring Bobby's idea to life!

I'm mad I didn't capture more moments that night. But I was captivated by the turnout and all the love showed to the cast and crew.

Can't wait for the sequel!!!

This really turned out to be one of the best birthday months ever!!💪🏿💪🏿🔥🔥😎😎 taken in The Gem Theater by @kc_king82

I appreciate all the birthday love from all who took the time to show it.

I had an eventful month to bring in my 41st year around the sun and trying to fit all of the memorable moments in at one time is something I need to refrain from doing in the future. Lol.

Extremely proud and thankful to have the opportunity to work with a group of great minds and creatives on this project.

Can't wait to see the finished version on screen next month.

12 years ago today and I can say I really miss being one with the ocean.

In hindsight, every negative experience I had out there was worth having the opportunity to reconnect with the ocean and nature.

40 Water aka @e40 would define this as "Goon With A Spoon" material. 😂😂

Definitely an inspiration to start documenting my food journey.

Vegetarian Spaghetti I found in Italy, but with my own twist and additions.

Bought this book in Miami's airport 7 years ago.

Today, If I were a public educator in #Florida, I could be jailed for allowing a 16-year-old student to read a sentence of this book.

But they tell me it's the Chinese, Jews, immigrants, or gay people that are a threat to my existence and masculinity? 🤔🤔 by @kc_king82
