This birthday looked a lot different than last year… and I’m okay with that.

This time last year I had the career I thought was leading me straight into my purpose. I had my own plans, my own vision, and what I thought my life was supposed to look like. But God had other plans for me. And even though the transition wasn’t always easy, uncomfortable, or understood at the time… I can finally say I see His hand in it all.

Today I spent my birthday working a job that genuinely fulfills me and I’m thankful for where I am. I don’t harbor any bitterness or hurt over where I used to be. If anything I’m proud of myself. Proud of the growth. Proud of the maturity. Proud of the healing. Proud of the woman I’ve become over this past year.

I pray God continues to keep His hands on me, keeps me humble, and never allows me to lose who He created me to be while chasing every blessing, opportunity, and accolade He has for me.

And to everyone who reached out, called, texted, posted me, or simply thought about me today… thank you. It truly means more than you know, especially because I’m barely on social media these days 😭 but none of your love went unnoticed.

If there’s one thing I can say after this past year it’s this: seek God. Truly seek Him. Let Him lead your life. It may not always look like what you planned, and it may get uncomfortable, but I promise… it will all work out exactly how it’s supposed to for His glory.

Being your daughter has been one of God’s greatest blessings over my life. Through every season, your love has remained constant and I pray you truly know how appreciated, needed, and deeply loved you are.

Watching you love, sacrifice, nurture, and still keep going no matter what has taught me so much about being a woman and a mother. Thank you for loving me through every version of myself and for always being a safe place for me and my babies.

Yesterday… I did something I’ve never done before.
I shared my testimony out loud.

I was nervous but I said yes anyway.

Losing what I thought was my dream job felt like everything was falling apart… but it pushed me to surrender and really seek God for myself. Not because of how I was raised but because I’ve experienced Him.

My story isn’t easy… child abuse, losing my first daughter, raising 3 kids on my own, denying my flesh and unlearning so much all while just wanting to feel loved.

And that’s what hit me…
I was searching for love, not realizing God loved me first. Unconditionally.

I’m not perfect, but I know this now God set me apart on purpose.

Yesterday wasn’t just me telling my story…
it was me stepping into who He called me to be.

A lot of people don’t know my little brother was shot about three years ago.
A lot of people don’t know he carries the name of my uncle who was killed in Oakland.
A lot of people don’t know the kind of pain my family has had to endure…

But through it all, God has been covering us 🙏🏽

Today my little brother stood in church and shared his testimony and it just reminded me how real God’s protection is. The car he was in was shot over 25 times… four people were inside… and only ONE person was hit. That was nothing but God. Nothing but the prayers of my grandmother, my mother, and the covering of the blood of Jesus.

I don’t take that lightly at all. I’m beyond grateful that my little brother is still here to tell his story, to walk in purpose, and to continue carrying my uncle’s name the right way 🤍

So when you see me praising Jesus 🙌🏽 just know it comes from a real place. My family has been through a lot… but we’re still here. And we will forever give all honor and glory to God ❤️🙏🏽

Today, November 17, 2024, marks two years since I completed the cosmetology program at Federico Beauty Institute. The journey wasn’t as easy as some might think. This was actually my second time attending cosmetology school. The first time, I went straight out of high school to Marinello Beauty School. Unfortunately, I didn’t finish because the person who inspired me to pursue this path—my sweet, loving grandmother—passed away. Her loss was devastating, but I always promised her I would continue her legacy.

Now, two years later, not only have I fulfilled that promise, but God has also blessed me with the opportunity to serve as an instructor at the very institute where I graduated. I’m honored to share my knowledge, inspire my students, and encourage them to stay the course no matter how challenging their journey might seem.

I give all the glory to God because, without Him, none of this would have been possible. For anyone wondering where to begin, just start—no matter how small. It doesn’t matter where you start or how long it takes; what matters is that you finish strong, hold onto your morals, and stay true to yourself. What’s meant for you will always be for you, and God will pave the way to show you that. by @kchouseofstyles
