August tends to be full of rereads for me for some reason. Maybe it’s the heat. This happen to anyone else?

I’m still very much obsessed with the Monstrous series and am glad I read it in time to preorder the reprint of the SEs from Renegade Romance. It will be like Christmas when it arrives because I’ll totally forget about it between now and then. 😂

Tavia Lark is one of my favorite authors. I first fell in love with her Perilous Courts series and have read everything she’s put out since. If you’re looking for mm romantasy you must read!

She also has some super spicy short stories that are also A+

My love of the Dungeon Crawler Carl series has been completely etched in stone. It just works on so many levels. From the absurdity of one of the deities being a god’s penis that was hacked off by a magical blade to the not so subtle social commentary that everything is controlled by a powerful few and the rest of us are just here for their profit and entertainment. I loved seeing more and more of the resistance as the series progresses.

Oh and my continued happiness is totally dependent on certain characters making it out alive. No biggie. Don’t let me down Matt or I’ll be having words with you at Dragon Con.

This was my introduction to @scarlettedrake and I can’t wait to read the rest of her books. Thanks to @jurassic_hoe (and many others) for spreading the good word.

It’s amazing how you’re told the how the story will end right from the very start but it still gripped me tight and wouldn’t let go. I felt the years of yearning and struggle to face a life altering epiphany. It had me yearning with and yelling at Raphael throughout this story. 😂

Rapha and Jae were so sweet and hot together. I loved how direct Jae was in demanding Rapha be clear about what he wants even though he struggled with allowing himself to want himself. The emotional wounds they’ve both have inflicted upon them by family had me wanting to wrap them both in a warm blanket. 🩷🩷🩷

I’ve read both the ebook and audiobook version (which has a bonus scene you definitely need!) just this year and loved them both.

I love binging a series as you can tell. I’m OBSESSED with The Monstrous series by Lily Mayne so much that I was bugging the group chat to send art (if you have fanart recs send them my way). Generally the story isn’t too heavy even though some of the topics can be. There are many hilarious and soft moments as the characters navigate these new monster-human relations. Will be part of the comfort read rotation I’m sure.

Also LOVE the Kiss Kill Repeat series by Onley James. These dark romance novellas are the perfect length and spice.

The Dungeon Crawler Carl series is continuing to wreck me and I’m still a little salty about it 😭😂🤣. Like no-you were supposed to be a fun silly read for me to listen to on my commute to make it bearable not make me sob in traffic.

That said I’m super obsessed with DCC and highly recommend. The anti-capitalist/anti-establishment themes with incredible characters will have you wanting to burn it all to the ground 🔥😈🔥 especially if my fav character dies.

Checked a good bit of long standing items off the TBR in June. My fav read of the month was Don’t Let the Forest In by CG Drews. Hazelthorn was also a 5+ read for me. I just loved the chaotic energy of DLTFI though.

The book that surprised me the most was The Butchers Masquerade as it made me nearly sob in my car as I listened on the way to work. I rarely cry when reading too so be warned! Like seriously- Song of Achilles- not a single tear (I did absolutely love it too).

Also, FINALLY read a Scarlett Drake book and can’t wait to get into the rest of her catalog.

I had the revelation this morning I could just repurpose my story post since I know I’ll never make a custom monthly recap. If you want my reaction to each book see my highlights for the year!

I’m OBSESSED with this book! Stop what you’re doing and read IMMEDIATELY. This story gripped me from the very first page and still hasn’t let go.

CG Drews’ (@paperfury) writing is beautiful and haunting. The blend of inner monsters and actual(?) monsters leaves much open to interpretation. It’s like a choose your own adventure!

It gives similar vibes as The Wicker King by K Ancrum which I also love.

I LOVE a fairytale retelling and binged The GriMM Tales series the past couple months.

All the books in the series are great and it’s hard to pick a favorite but Rumpelstilzchen (book 7 of 8) by @sam.northman is one that still gives me goosebumps when I think of it. There’s the murdery Shadow Daddy that is super soft for his person. A quest to break a magical entrapment. Plus toe curling sexual tension. I’ll never look at a strawberry the same way again. 🍓🥵😂

Other standout books for me are Cinder, The Frog Prince, and Hansel & Gerhardt (the horror in this one is so good). I loved how the characters/stories were intertwined across the series but you can read each as a standalone.

In anticipation of the Masters of The Universe movie coming out, I selected my Skeletor mug for this Match My Mug Challenge. I had the BIGGEST crush on Jared Leto when My So Called Life aired and absolutely love that he is cast as Skeletor.

2025 was my first year on bookstagram and it was filled with great reads and great connections. Discovered many new authors and new obsessions (looking at you Loon Lovers 👀).

103 books read (93 unique for the data geeks like me). Loved many of them but these were the ones that stood out at the end. Not all are romance and definitely check TWs.

Ever go to look for a quote in a book and then end up rereading the whole thing? Well that’s what happened here which is how I ended up reading it twice this month. Definitely not complaining and glad I did because I love this world that @sara_raasch created. I would LOVE to hang out there during the holidays. A pub crawl with Kris, Coal, Hex, Iris, and the Patricks? Sign me up!

This is book two in the Royals and Romance series. Both feature the Claus brothers as the central character which makes it the perfect holiday read. This one takes place around St Patrick’s Day but no need to wait till then as the Christmas vibes are strong with the Claus brothers and their Christmas drama still a big part of the plot.

This story operates on many levels from the fun banter between Kris, Coal, and Iris and their shenanigans to the deeper impacts that childhood trauma can have on you well into adulthood. It never gets too dark though and Sara does a great job achieving a realistic balance between the lighthearted and heavy parts.

Now I need to do a reread of The Nightmare Before Kissmas!

Here’s a sampling of books that have been on my ereader for many many months. All of which I was super excited buy (and theoretically also read) but got distracted by a shiny object or felt I haven’t yet been in the right mood to read. I know… I’m a terrible mood reader and will never stick to a reading plan.

Have you read any of these? Which do you think I should try to read by end of year? If you yell at me to read something I’ll do it (don’t read into that at all 😂).
