✨ 𝗥𝗘𝗟𝗘𝗔𝗦𝗘 𝗗𝗔𝗬 𝗥𝗘𝗩𝗜𝗘𝗪 ✨

Happy release day to @helenscheuerer’s Kiss of the Black Flame! Thank you so much to Helen and her team for the ARC copy ❤️‍🔥

I am a sucker for Helen’s books and Kiss of the Black Flame was no exception. This one had me SCREAMING at the ending (in a good way!), so freaking eager to see what comes next.

As usual, Helen’s writing, world building and character development is superb, and should absolutely be recognized at the level of the more well-known romantasy authors. Saige and Archer are both such complex, emotionally competent individuals (they aren’t perfect but we love people that recognize their feelings and apologize for their actions!) and their slow burn relationship development was steamy and endearing. I also absolutely LOVE the supporting characters in this book, especially Grim, and I can’t wait to see how their roles play out in the rest of the series. Found family is one of my all-time favorite tropes and no one does it better than Helen.

Go grab this one, and while you’re at it, sign up for Helen’s newsletter to snag The Bookbinder, a prequel novella to Kiss of the Black Flame!

✨ 𝗣𝗔𝗥𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗔𝗟 𝗟𝗘𝗔𝗩𝗘 𝗣𝗥𝗘𝗣 ✨

Ya gurl is very pregnant and I have a whoooole lot of plans for reading books, watching tv shows (to keep myself awake for those 2am feeds), and *possibly* playing some video games if I get the time. Will I? Probably not. But I like to have options 😂

This isn’t my first rodeo (child) and I plan to prioritize reading over everything else, but we all know that sometimes you are just too tired to read and need something else to occupy your mind. Which leads me to…

Thank you @helenscheuerer for the ARC of Kiss of the Black Flame! I’m just over halfway through and loving it 😍 I can’t wait to share my thoughts before its release next week!

I’ve been to a lot of appointments lately being 8 months pregnant, so this shot was taken at one of my weekly check-ins. I’m grateful for the slow moments being monitored though so I can relax and get some reading in 💖 Swipe for a bump pic!

Listen, I am never going to shut up about @helenscheuerer and her books. This was INCREDIBLE! I was hooked from the beginning and it was so thorough and engaging for being a novella.

We meet Saige and her closest friends, as she works to build a network of women who are masters at their respective trades - in a world that’s not very accepting of women as leaders. We learn that Saige suffers from an unknown ailment that makes her black out at very inconvenient times that no one has a remedy for AND she has a mysterious encounter in a dark alley with someone who may or may not be immortal…

As I said: HOOKED. Immediately.

As a prequel to Kiss of the Black Flame, I’m even more excited about the release of it in September. Sometimes I find it difficult to get into the logistics of a new fantasy world, but I was immediately sucked in and immersed in the story from the first chapter.

PS Did you know you can get this novella for *free* by signing up for her newsletter? You’re welcome!

Ya girl loves a good trend, and I thought this was such a fun way to give you a peek into what else I do besides read and (not regularly 😂) post!

I’ve realized that I’ve been really boring lately and not doing a ton, but I’m going to blame that on spending the summer pregnant and exhausted 😅

Not a bad view for a Saturday afternoon 💕 Got my snacks and my current read - Wild Card by Elsie Silver. My boys are playing video games while I get in some reading. Happy to be relaxing after a long work week!

✨ 𝗝𝗨𝗟𝗬 𝗥𝗘𝗖𝗔𝗣 + 𝗠𝗜𝗡𝗜 𝗥𝗘𝗩𝗜𝗘𝗪𝗦 ✨

Two books?! I blame it on the fact that the book we were reading for my book club just didn’t vibe with me and it totally ruined my ability to zip through other books 😂

𝗟𝗘𝗙𝗧 𝗢𝗙 𝗙𝗢𝗥𝗘𝗩𝗘𝗥
Per usual, I fell head over heels into Tarah’s writing and lost myself in the characters. I love a good second chance romance, and I really loved Wren, Ellis, and Sam. Their story is so sweet and I really enjoyed this one!

𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗗𝗜𝗩𝗢𝗥𝗖𝗘
Okay I thought I was going to love this one buuuuuut I was wrong. Was it fast paced and engaging enough that I couldn’t put it down? Yes. Were the plot, characters, and overall story good? Not really 🫣😂

It’s 71°, the air quality is good + it’s the first time I’ve been able to be outside without a mask in over a week 😍 *This* is my kind of weather and I wish it would stick around!

I’m currently reading The Fallen + The Kiss of Dusk for book club before we collectively take a break to dive into the Maasverse in preparation for book six. Andddd maybe also using some time to catch up on ARCs 🫣

✨ 𝗟𝗜𝗙𝗘 𝗖𝗛𝗘𝗖𝗞-𝗜𝗡 ✨

Yoooooo it’s been almost a month since I posted, which is the longest I’ve gone since I started my booksta almost four years ago 🫠 Honestly did not expect life (mainly work + pregnancy) to take me out this hard lol I’ve been sidelined with an ankle injury + then dealt with some mystery stomach bug that - of course - no one else had or caught!

I couldn’t be bothered to put together even the *simplest* graphic, so here’s a carousel of my life for the last few weeks and some bookish updates!

𝗝𝗨𝗡𝗘 𝗥𝗘𝗖𝗔𝗣
• A Court of Silver Flames by SJM (reread)
• Scandal of the Summer by Alexandra Vasti
• The Songbird + The Heart of Stone by Carissa Broadbent

𝗖𝗨𝗥𝗥𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗟𝗬 𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗗𝗜𝗡𝗚
• Left of Forever by Tarah DeWitt

𝗪𝗛𝗔𝗧 𝗜’𝗩𝗘 𝗕𝗘𝗘𝗡 𝗨𝗣 𝗧𝗢
• Convincing my garden to give me strawberries, peppers, tomatoes and cucumbers
• Having late-night cravings and fulfilling them the next day 🤌🏻
• Getting fun book mail!!!
• Eating delicious Lebanese food
• Watching some good TV - if you haven’t, you should watch The Residence on Netflix!
• Existing as a pregnant person in the summer who absolutely hates being hot 🥲

I hope at some point I can really get back into the swing of things here because I miss all of my book besties 🥺🩷
