POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
I am copying a friends post from the City council meeting last night on the current state of the flock cameras in Ridgecrest. I was not able to attend the meeting, but it looks like the cameras are dtaying, with some modifications to the City contract, for now.

If you care about that, November elections are right around the corner. Exercise your voice with your vote.

This is my friends perspective. I’m reposting because a lot of of us couldn’t be at the meeting, and I appreciate the update from those who invested their time and energy there. This is her perspective, which makes sense to me…

“Seriously... What the Flock???

It's almost midnight and I'm just leaving the City Council meeting and the Flock "discussion." An hour and twenty minutes of which was a "presentation" by the Chief using a fancy new teleprompter I've never seen before, which meant public comment didn't even START until 9:07 and probably forty or fifty people holding anti-Flock signs left before that.

There were eight people tonight that spoke in support of Flock, and dozens who spoke against it... Unfortunately four of the eight are current members of our council, which means this was basically a waste of five hours of so many of our time.

So if folks object to Flock for whatever reason, it looks like thats going to have to be something that goes to the ballot box on November 3rd...

Many of my friends are posting this, and I am following suit: I’m asking those who love the outdoors to post a picture. A picture that YOU took. Just a pic. No description. The goal is to regain peace and harmony without negativity. Ultimately, changing the algorithms. Please copy the text, put a picture on YOUR page, and let's look at these beautiful pictures.

Local peeps…💙 WE SPOKE. THEY LISTENED. NOW LET'S MAKE SURE IT HAPPENS. 💙

A couple of weeks ago, our community packed City Hall and asked the Ridgecrest City Council to formally engage in the California Energy Commission's review of the proposed RB Inyokern Data Center.

The Council listened.

They voted unanimously to direct staff to seek intervenor status and ensure the concerns of Ridgecrest and the Indian Wells Valley are heard throughout the process, and specifically that this is due to the significant adverse environmental impacts it would have.

Now we need to make sure that effort moves forward.

While the data center is not on Wednesday's agenda, we have not yet seen the City's letter requesting intervenor status appear in the CEC docket. This meeting is an opportunity to respectfully thank the Council for taking action, show them the community remains engaged, and encourage follow-through on this important step.

📅 Wednesday, June 17th
🕕 6:00 PM
📍 Ridgecrest City Hall

You don't have to speak.

Just showing up sends a powerful message that our community is paying attention and cares deeply about the future of our water, our quality of life, and the decisions being made on behalf of the entire valley.

💙 Wear blue if you can.
👕 We'll also have community shirts available for anyone who would like one for future meetings.

The reason we've come this far is because people keep showing up.

Let's keep showing up.

Lately I've been reflecting on something I am beginning to think of as the Art of Grace.

Many of us spend our lives learning how to achieve, solve problems, protect others, gather facts, make arguments, carry burdens, and push forward when things are uncertain.

These are valuable skills.

But I wonder if there is another skill that is just as important, and perhaps much harder to learn.

The ability to receive.

The ability to listen deeply.

The ability to be fully present without immediately trying to fix, control, persuade, or win.

Whether through prayer, Reiki, meditation, advocacy, friendship, or simply sitting quietly with someone who is hurting, I am beginning to see that not every moment calls for action. Some moments call for presence.

Not every question requires an immediate answer.

Not every uncertainty requires an immediate solution.

Sometimes wisdom arrives when we stop talking long enough to hear it.

Sometimes clarity appears when we loosen our grip on needing to know.

Sometimes the next right step reveals itself only after we have been still enough to receive it.

As our community continues to wrestle with difficult questions, differing opinions, and important decisions, I hope we can remember that listening is not weakness, and presence is not passivity.

The first half of grace may be surrender.

The second half may be presence.

Perhaps the Art of Grace is learning how to stand in the middle of uncertainty, love, loss, hope, healing, and change—and remain openhearted anyway.

That feels like a practice worth cultivating🙏🏼💕🌅🕊✨💫 by @kcutt_s

First, thank you to everyone who took a moment in your day to wish me a happy birthday. It means a lot to me.

As I looked at each note, I sat with each one of you too, for a moment, remembering our friendship. How it began. What brought our paths to the intersections we crossed. And how each one of you has touched me in only a way that you as an individual could. Thank you for your stories, our histories. Some are long. Some short. All meaningful.

Today, Steve and I were quietly recovering from a fun weekend at the Renaissance fair. It was wonderful to dress up in medieval costumes and immerse ourselves in another world for a bit. While there were many noteworthy things about the Ren fair, I think the thing that will stay with me the most is the wonder in the children’s eyes as they came up to me, giving me a little gifts, asking me if I would give them a “fairy” blessing.

It was so fun to rub my hands together and blow pretend fairy dust over them, telling each one that I hope that all of their dreams come true. The ages of the children arranged from little ones who aren’t yet talking in strollers, to toddlers, all still willing to imagine. All still willing to play. All still innocent of all of the world‘s pressures. It was so refreshing.

Cheers to each one of you, hoping that you end this day with a full heart, and dreams that you still care about🧚‍♂️💕✨💫 by @kcutt_s

“… what is life if not a subtle spell of changing forms? Beginnings that become endings. Endings that become new beginnings. And a prayer for stability amid the thousand storms, for roots that reached deeply enough through rock and loam and clay to keep us anchored through it all.“ ~ Melinda Gates, from her book, The Next Day. by @kcutt_s

“The goal is to develop the strength and grounding required to hold the tension of two opposing ideas until a new idea is born - until something more encompassing, more connected, and more nuanced emerges.“

“… it is said those who have the good sense to go inside when it rains, miss out on a world of loveliness.” well said by Julie Merrick, the author of, “Thoughts that Move Energy.“

I was on the fence about going to this clinic at the Dave Ellis ranch in Porterville a couple years back because of weather. And, while we were out in the rain and mud quite a bit, those moments with the ladies who shared that time with me, and moments like watching goofball Arthur roll around in a running creek, leave me with memories that are irreplaceable. I hope that you too find moments to cultivate an attitude for adventure✨🌅 by @kcutt_s

“… help your children to find the wonder and the marvel of an ordinary life. Show them the joy of tasting tomatoes, apples, and pears. Show them how to cry when pets and people die. Show them the infinite pleasure in the touch of a hand. And make the ordinary come alive for them. The extraordinary will take care of itself.“ By William Martin from his book, The Parent’s Tao Ching. by @kcutt_s
