PA’LANTE is a contraction of “para” and “adelante” in spanish meaning “forward.” this piece was a passion project of mine that i started to conceptualize last summer at a random zara in europe when i heard this song over the speakers lol. it’s the biggest piece i’ve ever directed by far and probably the most experimental with four different styles i’ve trained in blended together 💫

originally the goal was to perform this piece live at a showcase this past month, however, that unfortunately didn’t come to pass and plans had to shift! thankfully all these dancers were willing to adapt right along with me and the incredible @kchiucinematography was so supportive and willing to help us still create something awesome with this piece. coincidentally some of the overarching themes in this piece are luck and timing, because i’ve found that though things don’t always (or even often) go how i expect, there’s usually still something to learn out of the situation and incorporate moving forward.

thank you to the wonderful dancers who stuck with me through this project. eternally grateful to all of you for sharing your talents and just super pleasant vibes during rehearsals and shooting, you really made this piece 10x better by just being you ❤️

LTM is a piece rooted in my history starting off my dance journey with traditional west african back in the dmv. i wanted to create something that not only had a robust dedicated african dance section that reminded me of the pieces i used to do, but also incorporate the movements throughout the other sections, along with my other favorite styles (afromodern, jazz funk, vogue) 💖

LTM is a common abbreviation for long-term memory used by mental health professionals, and true to the name, this aspect of one’s memory usually remains intact despite age or disease-related cognitive changes over time. i thought it fitting because i never want to forget that i only dance now because Mr. Bah and @darlisaali trained me in that beautiful african dance style so dear to me always 💞

this was another piece that i had hoped i could present at a showcase here in NYC, but alas, even with a setback gotta push thru and make it happen anyway!! grateful for this lovely cast of extraordinary dancers for sharing their time and artistry with me, to @kchiucinematography for always believing in my vision, and @benready.mp3 for coming thru so last minute to help us with lighting. this piece also includes freestyles from the dancers at some sections and imo they absolutely smashed it! 💘

Flameo hotman 🔥 Greetings from #UFPComicExpo! Coming up is FEBRILE! 💨🪨🌊

FEBRILE! is a project created by Kegan Dasher featuring fellow members of The Neighbors NYC plus wonderful friends from around the NY dance community. The set features a mix of street jazz, vogue fem, house, and West African dance set to music by Slayyyter, with a theme of “be hot and have fun!” The title comes from the fact that the base of the choreo was made while Kegan was fevering from a horrible sinusitis and decided to work on this dance while suffering in his apartment. Please enjoy!!
