THURSDAY!! is the opening of Lookaftering, my 2nd collab with Michael Kellner. I'll be showing my 9 Portugal paintings for the first time in the US, as well as a new loveseat design. Michael and I both explore the theme of surveillance and care in this show.

Last Looks at “Social Proof of Care” and “In Need of Temperance”

As our two exhibitions,“Social Proof of Care,” and “In Need of Temperance”, come to a close we would like to thank the artists Monica Czukerberg, Amy Putman, Mabelin Castellanos, Katie Davis, Amanda Kate Walker and everyone who was able to come and visit.

In portraying the constant battle our human morality faces between self constraint and transgression, artists exhibited in “In Need of Temperance” highlight the fragility of human decency and the effects of imbalance. “Social Proof of Care” similarly calls us to action but puts care at the forefront. In a time where the line between individuality and isolation thins, the artists use material and historical context to remind us of the different ways we can show up for one another in community. Through workshops, interviews, and discussions, both exhibitions examine human behavior, ask us to re-evaluate our core values, and consider where our focus is needed.

For more information on the artists and their practice visit our website. Stay tuned for news on our upcoming annual fiber show: “52 Women Pulling at The Threads of Social
Discourse and a Guest: The Epistle.”

The Algorithm Knows Katie Davis

In our current exhibition, “In Need of Temperance,” showcasing alongside Amanda Kate Walker and Monica Czukerberg, artist Katie Davis’s “The Algorithm Knows” series explores modern surveillance through mixed media and recurring motifs of the watchful eye.

Capturing the commodification of our interests, the Ohio-based artist uses the relationship between material and visual language to highlight the dangers the algorithm poses when personalization shifts into obsession. Through eight paintings, Davis’s whimsical compositions expose the algorithm’s innocent facade and reveal the corporations behind it driven by our hyper-consumption and instant gratification. Reflecting the exhibition’s themes, the artist reclaims agency by bringing to light the harsh reality of Big Data and the algorithmic exploitation of our habits.

🔔As we enter the last week of our exhibition make sure to stop by and take a look before it’s gone. For more information about Katie Davis and her practice, visit the links in our bio.

“Feral Mothers” is currently living in my dining room (yes, it’s for sale). I was looking at it today, and I remembered the specific feeling I had when I worked on it. It’ll always be a bookend to the young mother chapter of my life. And I was reading “nightbitch” by @raijoy at this time too - such a great book about an artist who becomes a stay at home mom and also turns into a dog. Lots of feelings in this one 🐕🐕‍🦺🐩 by @kdavisstudio

46 was a great trip around the sun. So much love to all the people who are woven into my life.
