September was wild!

Family beach trip in 30A🏖️

Shoutout @lacraw for being our personal family photographer.

Took a 37 hour roadtrip with @shelbya_carr and Marsh to go see Uncle Mike and Aunt Jacqui get married. Marsh couldn’t get enough time with Nonna.

Finished with a trip down memory lane back to @indwes to do some recruiting for @residencyat12stone and had some fun hopping on some podcast episodes courtesy of @tylerwsanders.

Let’s talk about the spiritual discipline that we all probably feel like we struggle with the most: prayer 🙏

Scripture tells us it’s powerful, but we often forget that it’s personal.

God moves in power when we pray, but the best thing God brings in prayer is Himself. by @kdcarr_

When I played basketball in high school, I never made the other team’s scouting report because I never played (apparently they weren’t threatened by my 0.15 points per game 🤷).

May we be the kind of followers of Jesus who are so full of the Holy Spirit that we are dangerous enough to be on hell’s scouting report💪 by @kdcarr_

Christians do not believe that following Jesus means a life free of pain and suffering.

But we do believe that we don’t suffer alone.

We do not suffer in service of a God who has never suffered. When we suffer, we suffer in good company, alongside the God who left heaven to enter our suffering so that someday we could leave our suffering and enter heaven.

That’s the message of Good Friday.

At the end of the year I like to sit down and look through my camera and remember what happened. This year had a lot of “firsts.”

It was @shelbya_carr and I’s first year as parents. It was so fun and so exhausting all at the same time.

Shelb had her first day at a new job.

We took Marsh back to see our first apartment.

We took our first family beach trip.

Marsh made his first visit to CAMP.

My brother got married! Shoutout to @jacqueeee__

Marsh had his first birthday! Halloween birthdays means costume parties forever!

Shelb and I bought and renovated our first house…which is ironic because I’m the least “handy” person I know.

Shelb sold her first car (RIP Golden Boy).

I got to preach my first Sunday morning @12stonechurch. Still can’t believe someone let that happen.

I reconnected with some of my childhood best friends.

And I started a new job of my own. I officially wrapped up my time in Student Ministry with @wednesdaysat12stone right before Christmas and am starting the new year with @residencyat12stone (more on that later).

What a great year. Can’t wait to see what happens next😊 by @kdcarr_

7 years ago, my first day of @residencyat12stone was a Wednesday night at the Sugarloaf campus.

Shelb and I just made a move that didn’t make a ton of sense on paper, but we couldn’t shake the sense that God had something for us here. I was walking out of the kids entrance at the end of the night, looked up at the sign, and prayed that God would show me what He had for me here.

This past week, I was walking out of camp and caught myself having a moment of prayer looking at that same sign in the same parking lot.

A lot has changed since then. Lived through the death of my dad, watched a lot of people come and go in my life, lived through the uncertainty of struggling to get pregnant.

But on Friday night, I got to smile as I thanked God for healing my broken heart, for the memory of getting to worship with my wife and son, and for getting to preach about how everything that has been lost because of sin can be found in Jesus.

I’m really grateful for my life. God has been so good to @shelbya_carr and I. Thanks for a wonderful week of new memories @wednesdaysat12stone by @kdcarr_

A lot of people believed in Jesus yesterday.

A lot of people are learning how to follow Jesus today.

One of the most important things I’ve learned in following Jesus is how to talk back to the enemy.

If he brings up your past, you can bring up his.

Much of my life, I’ve been afraid to tell people about Jesus because I didn’t want to force my beliefs on them and be “that guy.”

I now realize that I was being selfish.

I have friends who lived so much of their lives in hopelessness, having the thing they put their trust in fail them over and over again.

Tomorrow could change someone’s life, they just need to know about it!
