If I could find the perfect greeting card to capture my mix of emotions and the strange emptiness we’ve felt that’s not filled by your goofy puns or lighthearted chuckles (or scarily loud sneezes - sorry dad), I would pay whatever the cost in a heartbeat so I could send it to you.

My dad passed away very suddenly toward the end of last year and it ripped our worlds apart. This kind of grief has been an odd one to process. We ran a simple errand together exactly two days before we lost you and (in the jokester’s way) it hit me like a train. Much like my emotions hit me the same way today, knowing I wouldn’t get to see your reaction to finding you the silliest greeting card for each Father’s Day, holiday, birthday.

I’m so grateful for the love you gave us and for all the beautiful ways people see your goofy (and chatty) tendencies, shining through me. We love you and we miss you, Dad. We’ll see you, and Caroline, and Kevin at the next station. 📸🚂💙

Found this sweet girl just south of sloan’s lake yesterday and am trying to get her back to her parents! Found her with no tags and not chipped so sharing is the best way to hopefully get this in the eyes of her parent(s). To Caroline:
I’m awful at making proper posts on social media, but I’m going to do my best. You were supposed to turn 34 today. I can barely bring myself to believe it’s already been over a month since you passed. You shouldn’t have had to say goodbye to this life this early. I don’t know how to feel half the time and every single day I’m remembering every little thing that you’ve ever shown me or taught me as my big sister. There is so much light and love and laughter you brought to this world, and I wish so fucking badly that you were still here so we could build the memories we were supposed to continue building for the rest of our lives.

I’m scatterbrained and distraught and confused and unsure how to approach most days lately, and that is when I’d usually turn to you. But now, doing that looks incredibly different - these days, I turn to your memory, your strength, your fiery passion, your chaotic yet organized amazing energy. How do I even begin to process that I can’t call you for advice, text you for second opinions, celebrate dumb little victories, or anything in between?

You put up a hell of a fight and I’m so fucking proud of you. You showed your strength and fierce love for your family and friends, all the way through your final days. I was able to watch you grow and flourish to become the most badass woman and role model I could ever ask for, and I am so grateful to have gotten to see you shine. I’m so amazed by everything you were able to accomplish. You are a force and I am so lucky you’re my sister.

I know you’re not hurting anymore which is what we all wanted in the end. It just doesn’t change how much I miss you. You live on in all the stories I get to tell and all the stories I get to hear, and I get to be closer to you by doing all the things we used to do together. I love you so much, Caroline. I look forward to the day I get to see you again.

Red Team Alumni Ride 3.0: rider and horse worn out by the end of the hour (probably me more so than her), flying around at top speed and loving it, followed by lots of kisses and attempts at pictures where Snookie looked cute until the last second and moved before the cute could be captured.
