Story In Caption 👇🏼 It is up to YOU to build the life you want to live!! The Corporate America path I was on was not going to lead me to where I want to be in 5 years. There comes a time when you have to decide if you stay comfortable, or take a risk… and i’m not one to play it safe. I have ALWAYS struggled to find sunglasses small enough to fit my face. The few pairs that do fit are either special order Ray Bans (boring & bad quality), designed for kids/teens (pass) or $500+. I thought I could do it better, so I did. After 10 years in the fashion industry, bringing a product to life is nothing new for me - but this time it is on my terms. I designed the sunglasses that were missing from my wardrobe. Cat-Eyes with updated angles, a Hexagon Frame that wasn’t TOO Hexagon-y… etc. Every pair of Memorí sunglasses are handmade in Italy, in small-batch production quantities of 200 or less per style. Cases are handmade by leather artisans in Mexico City. It was extremely important to me to only support small, family-owned businesses in this venture, wherever they are in the world. Fast forward 10 months, and Memorí, the WORLD’S FIRST brand of sunglasses where every single pair is designed with a small fit for adults with smaller faces, is now available for Pre-Order. Full collection dropping in January 🚀 The support and encouragement close friends and family have shown me throughout this journey has meant the WORLD to me! Hoping that by explaining some behind the scenes on how these huge retailers work, it helps people understand how their dollars can best support black owned businesses in the face of these DEI rollbacks. I am so disappointed in many of these retailers, these initiatives were helping build the foundations that small/new businesses need to be successful in these huge chains. Buyers want great new brands in stores, but most don’t know that there is a lot of work and growth a business has to achieve before they can handle the volume. Shopping direct helps a brand get there, and is one of the best ways to support a small brand that isn’t in big stores yet!
