Impeccable exhibit chronicling the history of Indonesian beauty, skincare & makeup💄🕰️ as someone in the industry, I’ve always viewed cosmetics as a clear reflection of the economy as well as the social and the political, so this exhibit feels very timely. Seeing vintage packaging, ornately designed objects, and magazines from a bygone time framed within their corresponding historical & cultural contexts has truly helped me reorganize my otherwise sporadic & messy thoughts 🌀

I appreciated the continual mention of the Indonesian queer & trans community as being responsible for the development of the local beauty industry, and their presence was very felt here in this exhibit. Despite the risks it may pose, it is crucial to acknowledge their contributions as there absolutely would not be a beauty industry ANYWHERE without 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️✊

Thank you for the hardwork & research poured into this @sissysosro @allyshanila - both of whom emphasized that they are not academic scholars in any way, but in my eyes what they have done here is beyond scholarly; it is fulfilling a cultural duty especially in a time fraught with change📚 Makeup is not only a tool for transcending and extending the self; it is also an indicator of where we are currently in time & space. To transform is the self is to transform the world 👁️🌏 Felicitations @hyas.exhibition ❤️‍🔥

NEW WAY OTA GP @ Djakarta Kiki Ball 2 🏆

It was a default win as I’m the only one who walked this category, but the pressure was ON for me to bring it for the first ever New Way performance at a ball in Indonesia, and in front of an international judging panel at that.

It was imperative to me that I honor this craft as best I can🙇🏻

From starting to explore New Way in December 2024 to finally walking it at local ball… Still so much to learn & refine, but I feel lucky that New Way found me❤️

Thank you to parents/organizers for having New Way OTA at this ball & their efforts to nurture Indonesian New Way! Excited for the future 🫶🏻@sangdanya @flxiaaa @cynthiarnella @mutiara.farhana

PERIOD JUSTICE 4 ALL❣️
Beginner’s Performance (New Way) at @theunityball.jp

I made this costume on my period 🩸
Red & white also to represent my country @ballroom.indonesia 🇮🇩

Abolish the pervading stigma which expects menstruation to be invisible and still considers it to be impure!

Easy access to menstrual products should be a human right. I’m especially thinking of everyone in 🍉 who has had to use tent parts & scraps for menstrual products, and whose periods are constantly delayed due to severe malnutrition 💔

I believe that embracing menstruation as a natural part of the life cycle is crucial to global healing

Thank you @houseofrevlonasia @edgar_revlon @pcodrk @esmesalzman @natsukoparis for organizing. This was my first major ball and it felt so aligned, i’m deeply grateful to you all for your hard work 🫶🏻 will never forget this.
