I’m beyond stoked to share our mission of offering supportive and encouraging dance to my beloved community as I head into my 23rd season of teaching dance in Midcoast Maine.

Here’s to everyone who bets on themselves and shows up for the work, to everyone who’s willing to ask for help and be there to help others, and to having the courage to believe in yourself and the power of love…that’s what this is all about, and we got your back, always ❤️✌️🫶

⭐️ITS OPENING NIGHT TONIGHT OF THE LOVE MOVEMENT🥳 I am SO incredibly excited to bring you my 9th GRIT AND GRACE. (Friday 22nd Saturday 23rd at 7pm, Sunday May at 2pm, @camdenoperahouse )

This labor of love that we’ve been working on for the entire year has created so many unforgettable moments! From our guest instructors who traveled from Boston and LA, to our cold plunge fundraiser, to the deep inner workings of @thekeamethod storytelling woven throughout, this show is being called- my best one yet- and I believe it.

I am so passionate about this work I get to do in my community of #camdenmaine and the art I get to create with so many young people and adults. It truly is what makes me the woman, choreographer and director that I am today.

Sending gratitude to each and every student, their parents, the tech crew at the theater, my stage manager @kinetically_me , any everyone who’s donated to our fundraising efforts and all of you who have bought a ticket to my show, THANK YOU!!

Sharing my work with everyone is the final stage of the creative process. Imagine baking a beautiful pie and no one eating it. It all feels incomplete until we see you sitting in the seats from the stage- then - we get to truly come to life in a way only dancers understand. “To life again” is what we say.

To show you the deepest love in our hearts, what we feel in our bones about the world today, life and ourselves. It’s the most vulnerable and intimate experience to dance for you, the audience. It’s revealing and exposing, and also liberating and the only way for us to truly elevate to the next level of our growth.

So without you- there is no us. We can’t fully exist in who we are, until we dance for you, and then- you become a forever part of our journey and our growth!

So thank you for coming to the show this weekend! Tonight is nearly sold out, a handful of tickets left. Then there’s some left for Saturday and Sunday!

🥳 SENIOR HIGHLIGHT ⭐️ @bella.wickenden

Our dearest Bella is ready to share her love of dance and her fellow dancers in our upcoming show Grit & Grace IX, THE LOVE MOVEMENT, May 22nd - 24th! Don’t miss your last chance to witness the joy, passion and talent she brings to the stage!✨

Bella is a most terrific, positive, focused, dedicated, passionate dancer AND person. She is fiercely committed to doing the right thing and learning as she goes, and cares deeply for those in her life. 🙏

Bella, your presence at the studio has been so impactful; not only as a student - but as an assistant teacher! You work so hard to support other dancers in rehearsals and to also continue growing in your craft as well. Always wanting to work harder, do better, learn more -and not just about dance- but about life. Deepening into meditation, spiritual growth and the desire to truly rise above the noise and evolve as a young woman has been commendable.

You have also been an invaluable employee covering daily operations and learning as much as you can about business and running a studio. I am immensely proud of you and so thankful for the support you’ve shown me these past few years AND ALL the dancers! No one clocks more hours than you- and everyone at the studio appreciates and sees you 🫶🥹

I have been working with you since you were 8 years old- which is a long time to watch someone grow, learn, become their true self, work through difficulties in life and so much more than just dance side by side in the studio and on stage. It has been a deep privilege and honor to be your teacher and I know you will be sorely missed next year!

(Side note - as I was preparing this post- I realized I did not have photos from when she was a wee peanut- but I had either selfies with her and @pearl.hedstrom (our other graduating senior), stage photos - or random videos where I was roughing out choreography - so I had to include one of those very rough cuts. It’s hard to believe this season is almost over 🥹

Looking back we started off with a laugh, lots of energy and so much love in our hearts…and that’s exactly how we’re going to finish!

I’ve choreographed 25 numbers spanning 14 classes of ages 7-50, styles contemporary, modern, jazz, hip hop and more, over 8 months with 70 dancers…

And from that created GRIT & GRACE IX: THE LOVE MOVEMENT, my 27th something show I’ve designed and produced, and the 16th annual studio showcase for my studio. I’m extremely proud of this work and I can’t wait for you to experience it!

⭐️SENIOR HIGHLIGHT!! ✨ @pearl.hedstrom

I want to acknowledge our first graduating senior, Pearl, a wonderful, beautiful, talented, kind, thoughtful and funny young woman, who we all love so much…

And who we have to say farewell to all too soon…

Pearl, you have been dancing with me since the wee age of 8. I’ve watched you grow up. I’ve watched you evolve into the woman you are today. Ive watched you overcome so many challenges, I’ve watched you grow in resilience, courage, and bravery, and never give up.

I’ve watched you dance on stage sharing all of yourself with the audience, and dance in the studio to find yourself. I’ve danced with you for so many years and I cannot believe that this coming show is your final bow. 🫶

I’ve done my best to teach you more than just how to dance, but also, how to truly love yourself. Freedom in mind and heart…to know your why and to always believe in yourself.

To think that you are leaving the nest and I won’t see you bound through the door excited to get your hair up and ready to dance next fall…or have our chats after dance about life and the world… that I won’t see you being silly and laughing in the corner and making everyone’s moods brighter…. It’s just weird dude. Super weird. 😭

But I’m so excited to see what you’re going to do next @uofnh and beyond! To see what you’ll create and the kind of woman you’re going to become. I am so excited to keep knowing you far beyond closing night of our upcoming show. (May 24th will NOT be our last dance on stage forever, just for a little while😉)

You are a true treasure and you will be sorely missed at the studio. I am so proud of who you are and we all love you so much. But especially me.

Carry on you beautiful human! Go get the world! Miss you already 🙏❤️😘
