A few moments celebrating a decade of being an adult 🫶🏾🥹

It takes a village to sustain an adult
Forever grateful for the village that continues to keep and sustain me.
Thank you for your love.
Thank you for support.
Thank you for always being willing to play out with me.
This year celebrating felt like the return of play, Power League and Nandos it’s giving top primary birthday but that is exactly my prayer for this year ahead. I also had the best time at my namesake with my people singing my heart out. What a gift it is, to be free and have fun with the people you love.
May 28 be filled with love, adventure and joy.
May it be a year of no limits, an open heart and cultivating the ground that nurtures me.

Letters to My Village pays tribute to Keanna’s closest friends and family who stood by her side and provided unwavering support. Each portrait is a heartfelt “thank you,” capturing not just faces, but the strength, love, and dedication of those who made this milestone possible.

I’ve written and rewritten this caption a million times but words sometimes fall short and fail to truly capture the feelings and emotions that flooded this night and everything leading up to it. @salimakamara and @capturedwithjoy_ captured everything so beautifully and I’m so grateful I mean this is just perfect. I might tell a couple jokes but I never tell a lie book them.

This night marked one year of me being a lawyer and I couldn’t have made it this far without my village. I don’t talk too tough about this law thing unless I’m cussing because the whole journey has been nothing short of traumatic, honestly I would not recommend, but I am forever grateful for my community for holding me, encouraging me, loving me, praying with me, being patient with me and reminding me that God is faithful and we will conquer this too. My therapist told me to run back to the things that bring me joy, the things I put down and buried in pursuit of being an adult and a career that was slowly breaking me. So I picked up my camera and my pen and what was a honest chat with God birthed this thanksgiving project.

A moment to say thank you in a way that was so precious to me. A moment to etch in ink, my gratitude. A moment to capture the beautiful faces and eyes that have truly seen and loved every part of me during this season.

To my village, I am forever grateful a million thank yous could never be enough.

Love dump 🥹♥️

This time last week we were celebrating love.
Two of my beautiful friends have found a home in each other’s hearts.
Love is such a beautiful gift.
God is so faithful words fail to articulate how special everything has been.
Happy Married Life homies.
Forever and always.
May marriage be even sweeter than your wedding day love you both ♥️

Separately I’ve now joined the “when will you marry?” community because what are the rest of my mates doing this is the season of “you are cordially invited too …” yet all you people are just sending me links to Eventbrite and Ticketmaster lets be guided shall I arrange the prayer meeting or? I only want to sing like this at weddings not the O2 thank you xx

Be You.
Humans are in a constant search of identity, we are looking to fulfill a deep need to be whole, seen, and accepted. We self identify in all sorts of ways that may temporarily bring satisfaction, but it soon fails and we return to our search to find our true self, speak our own truths, and live the way we feel is natural.

But to be our true selves, we have to come to a place of recognising and surrendering to the one who made us. We cannot find true peace, wholeness, and identity outside of our Creator. He understands us inside out, he understands what we need, and he has also created a standard in which we are called to live by.

Some may say it is restrictive. But has anyone truly found freedom in defining life and identity on their own terms? The result of that is Chaos. But the result of accepting the identity God wants to give us brings true life and peace. Find what's real in Jesus.

"Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.”

This moment is a really special one, I had to really let it sink in and my heart is so full that I can share this with you.

When I was around 7 or 8 I had my first poem published in an anthology, my parents bought the book and little did they know every year after that every submission I’d enter would be selected and another little book would be added to our shelves with my name in it.

I never stopped writing, but I stopped sharing, not for any deep emotional reason. Life got a little busier, a little bit more serious and I never saw writing as a gift and the path to becoming writer wasn’t very clear - so for me writing was a bit fun, a hobby, part of the school curriculum, at most a processing tool when my words would fail me, a page to escape to.

In the pandemic, I decided to dig up and unearth all the things I used to love as a child that gave me space to rest and I found this book with a poem I submitted in after school club which was simply another avenue to navigate my grief. After finding it I remember praying and God asked me, who told you to bury the gifts I called you steward away? And since then - day by day, little by little I’ve dusted off and cleaned another buried gift to steward.

Last week, another piece I wrote was published this time I got to write alongside my dearest friends on an awesome writers programme called @phoenixprogramme ran by some amazing people @reneekapuku @bejaymulenga @quethewolf
I’m so grateful for this opportunity and to share that the book is available to download from @applebooks where you can read my work alongside some other superb writers!

And finally - you may have some gifts or long lost loves that you deem as ordinary or not that deep but everything you have is of value. Lower your knees, dig up the dirt for the treasure isn’t lost it’s buried where your heart is.
