From rebuilding her life in Houston to reaching audiences around the world through America’s Got Talent, music, speaking, and her memoir More Than My Scars, Kechi has used her platform to promote resilience, self-acceptance, hope, and greater representation for burn survivors. Yesterday, I was honored with the @phoenixsociety 2026 RISE Champion award and I couldn’t be more humbled.
This award represents all my efforts to make fellow burns and trauma survivors feel seen, and to be a living example of the fact that there is life after trauma.

(Side note: shoutout to my girl @itsdeborahqueen for this picture that’s now one of my favorite shots of me ever!)

Amy, Jill and Rachel, I love and appreciate you guys just as much, if not more, than you appreciate me🙏🏽

Angel, thank you for being my care coordinator while I was a Shriners patient, and for supporting and chaperoning me when I became a patient ambassador for the hospital 🙏🏽

@kelowens and Wes, thank you both for pushing me out of my comfort zone vocally, and helping me flourish on the platform that means the most to me. All my growth from singing in church, singing for God, I carry over to every other stage in my life🥰
