Young Koreans are dropping the “miracle morning” for better sleep quality: habits, bedroom setup, supplements, sleep gear.

Now a lot of young Koreans are doing the opposite. It’s called sleep maxxing, and it’s not about sleeping longer. It’s about sleeping better. Blackout curtains, earplugs, sleep masks, magnesium, phone out of the bedroom, same bedtime every night.
The reason isn’t hard to see. Almost 1 in 3 Koreans aged 19–34 said they felt burned out last year. The number of people getting treated for sleep problems went from 1.04 million in 2020 to 1.3 million.

But here’s the funny part. Some people got so into it that sleep became another thing to stress about. Bad sleep score in the morning = bad mood all day. Miss one step of the bedtime routine = can’t fall asleep.

A neurologist at Samsung Medical Center put it simply: sleep changes night to night, and that’s normal. Don’t chase the score. Keep a steady daily rhythm.

So maybe the real Korean secret isn’t the perfect routine. It’s knowing when to stop trying so hard.
