530.000 m² have been declassified within a Natura area—
home to protected fauna and juniper trees,
The declassified area cuts off part of the Lageri (Platia Ammos) wetland,which is supposed to be protected by a presidential decree (Government Gazette 229/AAP/19-6-2012)

The last remaining undeveloped areas.

An environmental crime.

We call for:
Protection of the wetland by the Municipality of Paros: specifically, the placement of large boulders along the perimeter (as was done at Santa Maria), particularly at points where access routes have been opened for ATVs and other vehicles that have turned the wetland into a motocross track.

A formal challenge—lodged with the Declassification Committee, NECCA, the Forestry Directorate, and any other competent authority—against all decisions concerning the area’s forest lands.

The annulment of these decisions and a re-examination of objections, supported by an on-site inspection and a report from an independent forester. by @kedryades

Η αποχαρακτηρισμένη έκταση αποκόπτει μέρος του υγροτόπου της Λάγγερης (Πλατειά Άμμος ), ο οποίος υποτίθεται ότι προστατεύεται με προεδρικό διάταγμα (ΦΕΚ 229/ΑΑΠ/19-6-2012)

Τα τελευταία άχτιστα μέρη.

Ένα περιβαλλοντικό έγκλημα

Αιτούμαστε :
Την προστασία του υγρότοπου από τον Δήμο Πάρου : Την τοποθέτηση ογκόλιθων στην περίμετρο (όπως έγινε και στη Σάντα Μαρία) ιδιαίτερα σε σημεία που έχουν ανοιχτεί δίοδοι από γουρούνες και άλλα οχήματα που έχουν μετατρέψει τον υγρότοπο σε πίστα moto -cross.

Την καταγγελία στην ΕΠΕΑ , στον ΟΦΥΠΕΚΑ , στην διεύθυνση Δασών και σε όποια άλλη αρμόδια αρχή, όλων των αποφάσεων που αφορούν τις δασικές εκτάσεις της περιοχής.

Οι αποφάσεις να ακυρωθούν και οι αντιρρήσεις να επανεξεταστούν με αυτοψία και έκθεση ανεξάρτητου δασολόγου . by @kedryades

The third section of The Line of Now was by far the most emotionally charged. The line crossed through the fire-scarred landscape of the island, where the devastation was still deeply present. You could feel the pain of the land and witness the ecological damage firsthand—entire ecosystems destroyed and communities whose livelihoods had been profoundly affected.

I had the privilege of meeting Argyris, a beekeeper from the top of the mountain, who showed me the extent of the devastation and shared how deeply the fires had affected him and his livelihood. His experience gave this part of the journey an even more human dimension.

Despite the difficult terrain and the emotional weight of the landscape, I completed the approximately 3.5-kilometre section. Visually, it became one of the most powerful parts of the project: the iridescent line cutting through the blackened, burned land created a striking contrast—a trace of light and presence running through a landscape marked by loss.

I can also make it slightly more poetic and artist-statement-like if this is for The Line of Now documentation or Instagram. by @kedryades

The Line of Now is a project that I created and thought about for a long time. Its essence has always been simple: to reconnect people to the present moment — to one another, to the landscape, and, for me, to something greater than ourselves.

I arrived in Paros with a clear idea of how I wanted to bring this work into the landscape. But being here has changed the way I understand what the project needs to become.

Only days ago, parts of this island were still burning. The devastation is not something distant or abstract. It is visible everywhere. The land is blackened, trees are gone, and the wound is still open for the people who live here.

The purpose of The Line of Now has not changed. But the way I approach it has to.

If this work is truly about presence and connection, then it also has to be present to what is happening here now. I cannot simply impose the project I imagined before arriving. I have to listen to the landscape, to the community, and to what this moment is asking of the work.

So the project is shifting. Not away from its original intention, but deeper into it.

Right now, I am allowing myself the time to understand how this line can move through a landscape that has just experienced such loss — and how it can become something the community can connect with, recognize themselves in, and perhaps even feel proud to be part of.

I don’t yet know exactly where this evolution will lead. But I know that acknowledging what has happened here has to be part of the work. by @kedryades

Από υδροβιότοπος σε πάρκινγκ… και από πάρκινγκ ξανά σε υδροβιότοπο. 🏞️🦆🦤🦢🦩

Η λιμνοθάλασσα Σάντα Μαρία (Αλυκή) στην Πάρο, για πρώτη φορά μετά από τουλάχιστον 30 χρόνια, δεν θα αποξηρανθεί κατά τους θερινούς μήνες ώστε να χρησιμοποιηθεί ως χώρος στάθμευσης για τις ανάγκες των λυόμενων, του beach bar και του camping.

Στη φετινή ανοιξιάτικη μεταναστευτική περίοδο, οι φτερωτοί επισκέπτες της βρήκαν ένα ασφαλές και ήσυχο καταφύγιο. Ο μεγάλος αριθμός φοινικόπτερων (φλαμίνγκο) που σταμάτησαν για ξεκούραση, μαζί με σπάνια είδη όπως χαλκόκοτες, καστανόπαπιες και πολλά είδη ερωδιών, ξεπέρασε κάθε προσδοκία και μας κάνει να περιμένουμε με ανυπομονησία τη φετινή φθινοπωρινή μεταναστευτική περίοδο.

Θερμά συγχαρητήρια στον περιβαλλοντικό σύλλογο @kedryades για την εξαιρετική δουλειά και τη μεγάλη προσπάθεια που κατέβαλε για την προστασία και την αποκατάσταση των προστατευόμενων περιοχών της Πάρου, οι οποίες είχαν παραμείνει ουσιαστικά απροστάτευτες για δεκαετίες.

Η προστασία της φύσης αποδίδει όταν υπάρχει επιμονή, συνεργασία και σεβασμός στον τόπο.

🌊 Every summer, the same debate about Posidonia. This year, let’s talk about it properly.

Posidonia oceanica is not seaweed. It is not garbage. It is one of the oldest living organisms in the Mediterranean - up to 100,000 years old.

The leaf piles on the beach, called banquettes, hold the sand in place, protect the shoreline, and shelter marine life. They are also visited by Caretta caretta sea turtles, whose eggs may be buried nearby.

Remove them, and the beach erodes. Simple as that.

⚖️ What does the law say?

Mechanical removal is illegal. Even partial removal requires scientific studies, environmental impact assessment and official permits before anything is touched.

The NECCA Good Practices Guide (2026) is clear:

✅ Leave the banquettes in place
✅ Remove only human litter found within them - by hand
✅ No vehicles, no machinery on the beach

These laws exist to protect the coast, not to annoy people or ruin anyone’s summer.

And let’s not forget: the beach is not only ours. The turtles, the tiny creatures living in the banquettes, and the fish sheltering in the underwater meadows all depend on our choices.

Many tourists already understand this. When they see Posidonia being removed, their first question is often: “Why?”

Our island is already facing so much destruction. What remains must be protected.

🌊 Κάθε καλοκαίρι, η ίδια συζήτηση για την Ποσειδωνία. Φέτος, ας τη κάνουμε σωστά.

Η Posidonia oceanica δεν είναι φύκι. Δεν είναι σκουπίδι. Είναι ένας από τους αρχαιότερους οργανισμούς της Μεσογείου - ηλικίας έως 100.000 ετών.

Οι θημώνες στην παραλία συγκρατούν την άμμο, προστατεύουν την ακτή και φιλοξενούν θαλάσσια ζωή. Τους επισκέπτεται επίσης η Caretta caretta, της οποίας τα αυγά μπορεί να είναι θαμμένα κοντά.

Αφαιρέστε τους και η παραλία διαβρώνεται. Τόσο απλό.

⚖️ Τι λέει ο νόμος;

Η μηχανική αφαίρεση είναι παράνομη. Ακόμα και η μερική απομάκρυνση απαιτεί επιστημονικές μελέτες, εκτίμηση περιβαλλοντικών επιπτώσεων και επίσημες άδειες πριν γίνει οτιδήποτε.

Ο Οδηγός Καλών Πρακτικών του ΟΦΥΠΕΚΑ (2026) είναι ξεκάθαρος:

✅ Οι θημώνες παραμένουν στη θέση τους
✅ Αφαιρούνται μόνο τα ανθρωπογενή σκουπίδια που βρίσκονται μέσα τους - χειρωνακτικά
✅ Κανένα όχημα, κανένα μηχάνημα στην παραλία

Αυτοί οι νόμοι υπάρχουν για να προστατεύουν την ακτή, όχι για να ενοχλούν ή να χαλάνε το καλοκαίρι κανενός.

Και ας μην το ξεχνάμε: η παραλία δεν είναι μόνο δική μας. Οι χελώνες, τα μικροσκοπικά πλάσματα που ζουν στους θημώνες και τα ψάρια που βρίσκουν καταφύγιο στα υποβρύχια λιβάδια εξαρτώνται από τις επιλογές μας.

Πολλοί τουρίστες το γνωρίζουν ήδη. Όταν βλέπουν την Ποσειδωνία να αφαιρείται, η πρώτη τους ερώτηση είναι συχνά: «Γιατί;»

Το νησί μας αντιμετωπίζει ήδη τόση καταστροφή. Ό,τι έχει απομείνει πρέπει να προστατευτεί.
