Just got home from two incredible weeks in Italy with our girls, and I can honestly say Rome completely exceeded my expectations as a family destination (and everyone knows what a beach resort girl I am).

As a travel advisor, I spend a lot of time planning trips for clients. But experiencing a destination with my own kids is always different. You notice the little things that can make or break a vacation.

So I put together the guide I wish every family had before visiting Rome.

Update: I’m laughing cause I’m getting a lot of DMs for the name of this spot. And Google literally says “there is no karaoke inside the Catalina Casino.” Did this really happen. Felt like a David Lynch moment.

Forget everything you thought you knew about Catalina nightlife. This new karaoke bar inside the Catalina Casino is where you end the night.

A little recap of a three-generation trip to the wonderful @chilenobayauberge in Cabo.

A huge standout to me is you cannot beat their poolside service, where you pretty much have a dedicated team fully focused on your party. That means constant shade, aka moving umbrella, for my parents, fresh watermelon margs for me and a fantastic kids menu of local Mexican food for the girls. Their taco bar is served pool side with a salsa selection I dream about.

Was the perfect Father’s Day trip, that I organized while we were all together for Thanksgiving … cause that @auberge Black Friday sale is fire 🔥 taken in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico by @keeekster

Whoever was pouring her wine was way too generous... and honestly, I wasn’t complaining. 😂🍷

At that point, they might as well have just left a bottle or two on the table because we all knew they were coming back for another refill in 30 seconds. 🥂✨

And of course, the new Stop & Smell the Roses Drink Gems had to make their appearance too. 🌹💕 The new colors were the perfect finishing touch to every glass.

One of my favorite hotel discoveries in Puglia. If Ostuni is on your itinerary, this is where I’d stay.

Vista Ostuni quietly opened in July 2025, and I have a feeling it won’t stay under the radar for long. It has all the ingredients I love: an intimate size, thoughtful design, incredible service, and a location that feels tucked away while still being just minutes from Ostuni’s whitewashed streets.

What really makes it special is that it gives you the perfect home base to explore this part of Puglia with easy drives to Polignano a Mare, Monopoli, Alberobello, and some of my favorite beach clubs (a family we spoke to at the pool did daily morning excursions to different towns then afternoons back at the pool which I loved). It was a great and different experience after staying at Borgo Egnazia and we loved being so close to a cute town that we could explore.

If you’re planning a trip to Puglia, bookmark this one now. I don’t think it’s going to remain one of Italy’s best-kept hotel secrets for much longer.
