Being a coach is Not about the title.
It is about the people who give it meaning.

These girls show up when it’s hard, stay locked in when it matters, and bring the kind of energy that makes every early morning, every sacrifice, every bad day and every long night worth it. Iron sharpens Iron and because of them I get to become a better coach every single day.

As a coach I make sure that everyday I am always capable of completing whatever I ask my athletes to do.

This means practicing stretches and dry-land movements to even learning new skills in the water.
I train for my own competitions individually but as coaches how are we supposed to expect our athletes to complete something correctly if we cannot properly demonstrate?

How can we push and motivate our athletes if we no longer remember what it feels like to be in their position, when was the last time you got in the pool and tried to swim one of the sets you wrote?? Do you remember the feeling of fatigue as your muscles gave out and you lost access to oxygen? If you want your athletes to hold a plank my question is can you hold it with them?

As coaches we are to be role models, not just due to our previous successes but because we practice what we preach and we learn to understand our athletes a little bit better everyday.

Some chapters change you more than you ever expected.

Northern gave me so much more than coaching experience. It strengthened my faith, challenged me to grow, and even brought me the love of my life. Most importantly, it gave me the privilege of coaching an incredible group of young women who reminded me every day why I chose this profession.

To my athletes, thank you for trusting me, working hard every day, and allowing me to be a small part of your journey. Watching you grow was one of the greatest privileges of this chapter.

To my family and friends, thank you for your constant encouragement, prayers, and support. Sarah, thank you for pushing me to chase my dreams and step outside my comfort zone. I truly wouldn’t be coaching at this level without you, and I’m so grateful for your friendship.

And to Hunter, thank you for being my biggest supporter, celebrating every victory, carrying me through the hard days, and reminding me to keep going. I truly couldn’t have done this without you.

Thank you, Northern for a chapter I’ll always be grateful for! On to the next ❣️ taken in Northern State University by @keelyann40
