Harvesting Geese is a example of Aboriginal Right based on long-term historical practice. No other Canadians can harvest geese at any time. If you are indigenous, did your people eat geese or do you still eat it? I know I’ve had some amazing roasted geese in my time. To my non-indigenous Homies would you partake in a geese feast? by @keemiforever

heres a hottake

In 1944-45 “ Canada “ entered WW2 and wins , as allies against a genocidal regime based on world domination and twisted racial ideologies known as the Nazis. (ironic?)

From 1945 World leaders form the UN start creating the International Human rights framework. This basically means the basic rules of how governments / institutions should treat all human beings as a basic right of humanity.

Canada being a founding member of the United Nations , was forced to create a parliamentary review of the entire Indian act in 1946. At this point in time, indigenous parents would be jailed if they did not allow their children to be abducted and forced into the residential schools.

in 1948 the universal declaration of human rights was officially adopted by the United Nations. This forced Canada to make extreme changes to their treatment of indigenous peoples.

by the end of 1948 Canada ended mandatory attendance to residential schools. They could no longer jail, indigenous parents for refusing their child attending those schools.

In 1951 Major ammendments were made to the Indian Act and here are the key changes

 - Potlatch and ceremony band was lifted making it no longer illegal for us to practice our cultures

- we were now allowed to hire lawyers to represent ourselves in land claims

- one of the changes in 1951 that backfired was the new child welfare provisions that gave the church and state more power and access in removing first nation’s children from their homes resulting in what is now widely referred to as the 60s scoop.

My point is that Canadas involvement in World War II not only defeated the evil racially / religiously twisted regime known as the Nazis , it also exposed Canada, Canada‘s genocidal mistreatment of first nations people. by @keemiforever
