Thank you to everyone who trusted me to be a part of your journey, thank you to all of the creatives who helped me along the way. I don’t take the opportunity lightly it’s truly a dream come true to be able to make a living doing what you love.

To future partners, I’m locked in and excited to create with y’all.

Oh yeah and we just had a baby @ideahouse.studios . This is a new company I’ve been working on for quite some time. I can’t wait to share more on it but for now, follow the page and keep it on your radar.

These are tips that can help anyone:

1. People want to be directed. Most people aren’t actors they’re looking to you for confidence and guidance.

2. Pre-production drives the entire shoot. The more you prepare beforehand, the less you have to figure out on set.

3. Have fun on set. Your energy is contagious. Know when to lock in, but don’t make the set feel tense.

4. Don’t be afraid to make decisions. A wrong decision can be adjusted. No decision slows everyone down.

5. Leave room for happy accidents. Plan everything, but be flexible enough to capture moments you didn’t expect.

Filming interviews changed when I stopped spit balling questions and started thinking as a producer.

1. I keep the story in mind through the whole process. I design my questions around my story. This makes editing so much more enjoyable. When editing, you’re just piecing your story together.

2. My biggest shift in the past year, is bringing the client into pre-production. I let them see the topics we’re touching on so nothing is a surprise. They can answer questions confidently in their tone and personality.

3. Filming b-roll can be awkward, but it’s necessary. I film b-roll with every interview. This turns your interview from a talking head and into a film. To make it smoother I share b-roll references with the client so they know what we’re going for ahead of time. This make things are more natural for them.

4. Have them repeat every question in their answer. This is mandatory. If you know you know. This makes editing flow way smoother and more enjoyable for you 😂

5. I learned to actively listen, don’t just wait for the next answer. Listen for the story Inside of what there saying. If they light up when answering a certain question and it aligns with the story you’re creating, dig deeper and ask more about it.

Crystal Renee x ORS – Unapologetic

I filmed this piece for @luvcrystalrenee new line with @orshaircare . 10/10 experience. Hearing her story and watching how her new line all came together was inspiring.
