I spent a long time believing there was one “right” way to build a career.

But deep down, I always felt like there had to be another way. Keep Nudges & Notes isn’t just a place where I share my thoughts.

It’s me proving to myself that I can build something rooted in my values, my creativity, and the life I actually want to live.

I hope this business supports my family one day and I hope my kids grow up watching their mom build something she believes in.

I hope they see that being brave doesn’t mean you’re not scared—it means you keep showing up anyway.

Because if I’m telling them they can build a life that’s true to who they are I want them to see me doing the same. 🤍

P.S.S. I recorded this in our guest bedroom while Theo was working with his tutor downstairs and Lucy was watching SuperKitties in our bedroom. From hitting record to minimal editing and posting, this took about an hour.

This is what building a business looks like for me right now. It’s not glamorous. It’s not perfect. It’s built in the little pockets of time I can find.

And honestly I wouldn’t trade this season for anything. Not because it’s been easy—it absolutely hasn’t. There have been plenty of tears, self-doubt, and moments where I’ve wanted to quit AND I’d still choose this.

Allow me to reintroduce myself. I’m Keisha. 🤍

Not the version of me that spent years trying to fit into boxes I had already outgrown.

Not the version of me who thought checking all the right boxes would eventually make life feel right.

The version you’re meeting now is still figuring things out but she’s finally trusting herself enough to stop pretending she already has all the answers.

And maybe I’m not just introducing you to me. Maybe I’m introducing you to the version of yourself you’ve also been missing.

For a long time, I thought I needed to pick a niche and the more I tried to fit myself into one category, the more disconnected I felt.

Then I realized that my niche isn’t a topic it’s paying attention.

Everything I share whether it’s a conversation about communication, a funny moment in motherhood, organizing a drawer, dancing in my kitchen, or a thought that I cannot stop thinking about it all comes from the same place.

I’m paying attention and then I’m putting words to what I notice. I am sharing what I’ve noticed while living my own life.

If something I notice helps you recognize something in your own life, then this page is doing exactly what I hoped it would and I am really glad you’re here. 🤍

Sometimes I don’t need another perspective, another solution, or a reminder to be grateful. Sometimes I just need to admit that I’m tired and that I need something to give.

Two things can be true. I can be deeply grateful for this life and still wish some parts of it felt a little easier. 🤍

I’ve been thinking about the grief of needing support, and I wrote more about this today over on Substack. 🤍

I actually wrote this back in January. 😅 If you watch my stories, you’ve probably heard me mention how behind I am on actually publishing allllllllllll of the thoughts I constantly reflect on.

So just a little disclaimer that these words are from 10ish months ago but they still sometimes feel relevant to me today.

I’ve wanted to take voice lessons since I was little and just never did. Maybe I’ll finally sign up sometime soon but until then, I’m practicing using my singing voice a little more. Because practice makes perfect or at least a little better? 😂🎶

And practicing being seen and heard, too. Letting people hear it before I decide it’s “good enough.” I can definitely keep practicing that part. 🤍

One of my favorite things as a mom = the 9 p.m. solo Target pickup run in my jammies, blanket on my lap, music blasting, singing my heart out. That’s it. That’s the post. 😂

Two years ago forgetting Lucy’s lunch bunch would have sent me into a spiral. This time around I owned the miss, we figured it out, and I can laugh about it and hours later my brain was still retracing every step, trying to figure out how to make sure it does not happen again.

I don’t think today’s mistake needs a whole new system. I do think it says something about how much there is to keep track of when most of your family’s day-to-day life runs on two people, with very little backup. Sometimes when I ask, “Where is my brain?” the answer is…in all the other things it’s holding. 🫶🏽
