Size doesn’t matter. 🪣 Big pieces or little bits…

Stormy weather and rough surf have stirred up marine debris and will continue to do so for the next several days, bringing objects from both near and far and depositing them on our beaches.

This is an important time to get out and remove the large pieces, like this large plastic grate and all the small fragments tangled in the wrackline, before they break down further into microplastics that are almost impossible to clean up. Grab a bag or bucket, your trash grabbers or reusable gloves, and head to the beach to do what you can. Every piece removed makes a big difference.

But who’s counting? We were! 1-2-3… Every piece of trash collected this morning was counted and weighed as we did our part for the 41st annual International Coastal Cleanup. Huge thanks to all our amazing volunteers for their hard work and dedication.

We also want to give a shout out to those who cleaned up with us but took on other areas.

Today’s management crew: Bridget, Kristen, Julian, Loretta, Thomas, Dave, Linda.

Sending well wishes to a group that had to cancel last minute. 🤒
