After years of work, Esistenza is officially finished. 🕯️

It started with a hike in Cinque Terre in 2016 and a tiny chapel I never forgot. In 2020, every plan I had changed, so I made a new one. I flew to Italy and made this film with an incredible local crew who became family.

Then, in all the COVID chaos and moving around, the film files were lost. For a long time, I wasn’t sure this story would ever see the light. This year, we found them! The team jumped right back in, and we finished the film right away.

Esistenza is a film about forgiveness and about choosing to live. Finishing it feels like doing both.

Thank you to every person who believed in this story, and who waited with me. I can’t wait to share it with you!

A big thanks to @livforsythe for breathing life back into this film after watching it and encouraging me to finish it and submit it. 🥹🩵

Kinda chic to have a balanced life:
Don’t live to work, work to really live. Life happens in the small, every day moments and the relationships around us. Don’t miss it.

Kinda chic to find beauty in everything:
Gratitude is a choice—an act of defiance, especially when life gets hard. Choosing to find beauty is one of the most radical things you can do.

Kinda chic to make younger me proud:
At 19 I started as an actress, wanting a big career. The industry was a lot different 14 years ago—with powerful execs and a less inclusive environment. I was told to bleach my hair blonde and change my appearance. I’m glad I stayed true to myself, which includes my ethnicity and my curves. 14 years later, the industry is embracing all different looks and people 🩵

Kinda chic to fight to be a female filmmaker and producer:
I’m very grateful to the men and women who have mentored me and have given me opportunities to grow my career. Film is a fight, so I don’t take it lightly when someone gives me a chance.

Kinda chic to make a roadtrip feature film with an amazing cinematographer:
@quinnthomashow has to be one of the most talented cinematographers I’ve ever known. She has a great way of balancing me and checking me. I was dubbed the “wine aunt” on set but Quinn not only has an amazing eye, she is truly a mama bear at heart with a safety first approach. Thank you for teaching me, Quinn. 🩵

Kinda chic to make a movie with a female led cast and crew:
We had amazing men and women on my set and we couldn’t have done it without the men either. But it was so amazing and encouraging to look around and see all the hardworking women making their dreams come true too. 🌸🩵

Kinda chic to start over in your 30s:
It’s never too late to start over. Just do it.

Kinda chic to believe in love again:
He’s given me safety and comfort. Something I never thought I’d find. Thank you @gulo_simon

Kinda chic to fall in love with life again:
After the couple years I had, it was hard to think I’d find joy again. But choosing to let myself love life and believe God’s promises for me is the best and bravest thing I can do.

Kinda chic to lead my first feature film:
Don’t wait on others, creat taken in Maui, Hawai'i by @kehareb

One day you’ll listen to that little voice inside of you that still dreams and it’s very important you listen to it.

I’ve wanted to be a filmmaker since I was 4 years old but I always let things like fear, “budget”, and time stop me. But one day I woke up to myself and decided to stop making excuses.

This by no means was an easy feat to try to accomplish, in fact it was very ambitious for my first feature. Limits were tested and everyone was pushed to capacity at times. But because of the amazing people that selflessly gave themselves to this project because they believe in me and this story, it is getting made. 🩵

I am forever grateful to these hardworking professionals who have invested into me. I love each of you so much.

I put so much of young Rebekah into this story—the one who fought depression, the one who lost her first mother figure, and the one who had to learn to trust herself and overcome self doubt. The Road that Holds Us is an exploration of love, life, acceptance, and learning to trust oneself. I can’t wait for you all to see it. 🩵

Huge thanks to @4ways_ent and @brightfuturepictures for producing my first feature film. Here’s to more 🩵✨ taken in Valley of the Gods by @kehareb
