Thank you track for everything. I look back at all the meets I have gone to these past few years and see how much I have grown. This sport has been one of the hardest things I have done in my life. We are in season from the beginning of the school year until the end of spring. That being said, showing up every moment I did I wouldn’t trade for the world. I see how many teammates I was blessed to have over the years, how many have touched my hearts and deeply added to my college experience. If you were ever a part of Edgewood T&F, know I love you so much and you made my entire college experience, I could not have kept going without you guys. When I would have a hard day, going to practice was one of the only places I felt like I could get away and focus on something I enjoyed and everyone around me was passionate about. I will say in all honesty, there were so many times I questioned if I could keep going. When I started nursing school I honestly was drowning and wasn’t sure if I could continue to do track. I was never a medal winner, a title holder, or until this season, ever even got points at conference. It was hard to justify to myself that the time I was putting in ever would pay off. Though I felt that way about my performance, I never stopped showing up. Even when I wasn’t good at something I didn’t stop trying and that was the best thing track ever taught me to do. When you believe in yourself and show up for yourself, magic starts to happen. I never have been able to make finals in any event at conference any year I have competed. This year was the first and the last time it happened and it was the event I went into college not even knowing how to do. I had never picked up a javelin until my freshman year and honestly was mid at it with the lack of experience. I never thought it would be the event I ended up being the best at comparatively as I end my time here. I will let this forever serve as a lesson to let myself be surprised and not limit myself. I am capable of whatever I let myself believe in and I shouldn’t doubt my abilities. Thank you to all of those who believed in me even when it was hard for me to. Forever grateful <3🦅❤️ by @keilley._

Cambodia was the experience of a lifetime. I had never been so far from home before, yet in just three weeks I learned more than I ever imagined possible. We spoke often about “planting seeds”—that every person we engaged with might carry something forward to those around them. In that same spirit, I wanted to plant a seed here with all of you just like how I had a seed planted in me. —Many people when I told them I was going on this trip had many misconceptions about Cambodia, its people, and what it could be like there. Many couldn’t even tell me what continent it was on or find it on a map. This really saddened me because the country that seems small on paper, has so much to offer and so much kindness. Entering Cambodia for my three-week clinical immersion, I saw the mission: to give. Our focus as nursing students was to provide care, assessments, and support communities with the skills we are learning in school. I believed that service would be the defining feature of the experience. What I did not fully grasp was how deeply the experience would shift my understanding of care, privilege, and how identity shifts care in the context of global health. While the mission of being there for was surrounded by getting children medical assessments and care, I came to recognize the immense privilege embedded in our ability to be there at all. We had the opportunity to learn in a country that welcomed us generously, opening schools and parts of vulnerable communities to us. We were able to see a group of displaced Cambodians from the ongoing Thai-Cambodian border conflict that was a very acute event to respond to. The Cambodian people did not owe us their trust, their patience, or their vulnerability—yet they extended all three. Rather than feeling like I was there to “help,” I began to understand that I was being taught. I learned what it looks like to practice nursing with limited resources and language barriers, to listen > speak, and to approach care with cultural humility. I am truly honored to have been included in this trip of solidarity. When someone asks you to study abroad, always say yes :) by @keilley._
