Tuesday, July 14 - our last full day in Norway:

We were able to tour the Akershus Festning, the castle on the harbor in Oslo. We then entered the adjoining Resistance Museum ( Home Front Museum) which traces the events that led up to and through the Nazi invasion and occupation of Norway. This was very interesting and we could have spent much more time there.

Linnea again had a great plan for us and led us on quite the adventure. We went by ferry to one of the islands then a hiking trail to a nice spot on the ocean! We spent several hours on a “beach” and swam in the ocean. It was very relaxing and a great way to spend our last few hours in Oslo.

This has been an incredible trip, and we all agree that we want to come back to this incredible, beautiful, scenic country! taken in Oslo, Norway by @keithbob14

Sunday, July 12: We want to thank Kenny and Siw Volden for having us at their beautiful home overlooking Lake Mjøsa, the largest lake in Norway. Siw was a foreign exchange student at Westby High School. We had a wonderful time visiting, eating the delicious Norwegian food, and traveling the area. Many people from our home area have visited Siw and Kenny over the years, but this was our first time meeting. Thank you for your hospitality, food, drinks, history lessons, and lots of laughs!! by @keithbob14

Thursday was all about traveling from Bergen on the west coast of Oslo on the east coast. We took the “Norway in a Nutshell” package that took us by train, to a bus in bus in Voss, to a fjord passenger ferry in Godvagen, to Flam and the Flam Railway, to a passenger train. Combined it was about 14 hours of incredibly beautiful scenery! by @keithbob14

We spent all day Wednesday in Bergen, mostly in the older Bryggen region. Lots of shops and historical sites. We really enjoyed the Bergen and Troll museums. We tried our first moose and reindeer burgers, as well as fish soup. We spent a lot of time just walking around the very old downtown area. Thanks to the kids we figured out the bus system, which is very thorough as the public transit system is quite amazing. It is currently Thursday morning and we are on the train starting our “Norway in a Nutshell” journey across the country, arriving in Oslo tonight. Bergen has been amazing! by @keithbob14
