This is a proven action to dehumanize demonstrators and reframe legal protest as dangerous rebellion. Like many, I’m trying to avoid (fully) feeling depressed or hopeless. I think it’s about understanding that it's going to be a long and difficult haul. Like living with or having a loved one with cancer or another devistating illness. Can’t get too sunk in the lows or lifted by the occasional highs of each update, each week. It’s about being there. About sustaining care and support for others and our selves throughout however long this lasts. What will be stolen or lost will take years to restore. As best as possible. I find myself thinking about Gericault’s “Raft of the Medusa.” Piled with suffering, exhaustion and pain, the individualized bodies and survivors together are one. Whole. Forming an enormous relentless pyramid heading towards. There it is. Way off in the distance. On the horizon. Almost a joke. So tiny. The rescue ship. A barely there silhouette. A verb. It’s heading towards them. Hope. Like so many others before, we as a people, as a planet, in ways we cannot yet imagine, will get through it. by @keithsklarart

Faith Ringgold has passed. A great, courageous and encompassing artist. Pissed off, loving, empathetic, collaborative. She sowed, accumulated and sewed quiet psalms. Carved and wove and forged a grammar to just living justly. With effort, memory, correction and connection. And F*CK THIS racist, misogynist shit ENDS NOW. Right Now! Yesterday is too late. Forever. To me, Ringgold’s art itself, like her life, spoke of what must be sensed and said, printed and touched, torched and unearthed, welcomed, wrenched, and not never ever, always staying, moving, at rest and on the front line to obliterate and right innumerable lines.
