My perspective: This phone call changed my son’s life last year. It was a late day for us and I was in the kitchen cooking and I missed the initial call. Erlanger then called Darius’ phone. when he saw the unknown number he panicked but answered. He called my name and… well this is his journey so read on for his story…

Darius’ perspective: at 9:09 PM, June 11, 2023. I received a call I didn’t know would change my life. I was playing the game with my two friends and the caller ID said Erlanger hospital. and for some reason right there, me and my friends knew. They understood, so I immediately got off the game and answered the phone. And my social worker announced that I had the option to accept a kidney. My heart dropped (you can see in the video many times where I zone out. I just couldn’t believe it was happening.) after a long conversation of her explaining the process and what’s going to happen, I decided to say yes to what I’ve been waiting for, for almost 3 years. this day amazes me because I remember almost 2 weeks before around 9 AM. I was leaving Dialysis and began crying because I had enough. I remember I couldn’t do it anymore and in such short notice I got this call. I want to thank God for giving me this opportunity for me to look back on how far I’ve came in only one year. and also giving me the motivation to keep going. Thank you for everybody that kept up with me and I hope y’all stay safe.❤️💕 stay tuned
