BIKINI BOTTOM NEWS!
Meet the humans traveling down to the ocean floor in this nautical tale for the ages!

BECKETT DUMAS (Ensemble) is thrilled to be back at QCC for The Spongebob Musical! He was last seen in the ensemble of The Cher Show. He is a current junior at Northwest School of the Arts, where he studies Musical Theater. Previous credits include Head Over Heels (Northwest School of the Arts), Hadestown: Teen Edition (Lanti Performing Arts), and Legally Blonde (Children’s Theater of Charlotte). When not performing, Beckett enjoys hanging out with friends, playing guitar, and listening to music! He would like to thank his parents, friends, teachers, vocal coach, and the creative team for their constant support and for making this opportunity possible. Enjoy the show!

KEL WRIGHT (SpongeBob SquarePants) cannot believe the opportunity QCC has provided to play this absolute DREAM ROLE! Kel grew up completely obsessed with Spongebob and her inner child could not be more thrilled! To play such an optimistic and loving character in a time that desperately needs positivity feels unreal. Kel has been so fortunate to work around the greater Charlotte area with many companies including Queen City Concerts, Children’s Theatre of Charlotte, Davidson Community Players and The Lotus Project. You may have recently seen Kel in QCC's Sondheim on Sondheim, Once (Reza), Lotus Project's The Little Mermaid (Scuttle) or DCP's Head Over Heels (Musidorus). Other favorites include Fun Home (Adult Alison), Godspell (Jesus), Seussical (Cat), and Diana (Paul). When not performing, Kel is a full-time lighting designer, carpenter and technician. Much love to my Karen and our wonderful family and to my chosen and given family. I wouldn't be here without you.

Karen wrote so beautifully about what this trip meant to her and I am so proud I get to be beside her on this incredible journey she has been on. I also want to state that this past year + has been incredibly transformative for me because I have been lucky enough to fall in love with her.

There is a true peace I have never known until I met her. It’s knowing however I show up, I am still loved and worthy of love. It’s a desire to push myself to be better. It’s harder and more constant laughter than I thought possible. It’s long late night talks or being in bed by 830. It’s patience and kindness and openness.

I could easily go on and on but this vacation felt like a culmination of the love and life we have been building together and it was a blast. I love you, K. 💚 taken in Royal Caribbean Enchantment of the Seas by @kel.a.wright

🛳️ Booked a cruise and honestly… it feels like more than just a vacation.

This past year has been one of the biggest turning points of my life. I closed a chapter that no longer fit me, found the courage to fully step into who I am, and chose happiness—no matter how scary that felt at the time.

Now, I get to celebrate a year of love with an amazing woman who makes me feel seen, safe, and completely myself. 🥰

So this trip? It’s not just about sunshine and ocean views. It’s about freedom, growth, authenticity, and new beginnings.

Here’s to living truthfully, loving boldly, and never settling for less than a life that feels like your own. 🌊✨ by @kel.a.wright

I don’t post often enough about my work, but I was incredibly lucky enough to get asked to Lighting Design A New Brain for @qc_queencityconcerts a few weeks ago and I’m just really pleased with how everything came out.

So grateful for art, for friendship, for work, for William Finn, for love, and for being able to share all of that with this crazy world we live in.
