A fucking master class.

It’s one thing to cook beautiful food in a great kitchen with all the tools and staff needed to put out perfect plates. It’s a whole other thing to cook of one tiny wood fueled grill with one burner, one cutting board, 3 waiters and 40+ guests. All while holding court, making wild dick jokes and cranking out endless piles of dishes. Some of the food homie and soulful, others composed perfect plates…this man is a legend in my book.

Day 1. Meal 1.

Azuki pastries when done like this draw a delicate line between savory and sweet. Such an odd thing to the western palate to make deserts with beans but to us it’s comforting and taste like memories of my dad trying to force me unsuccessfully to love An Pan. How you feel about Azuki? What’s the your favorite way to eat it? taken in Yokohama Chinatown by @keliiheen

The cub slowly turning into a lion.

* went down 0-4 right out the gates, then came back 5 goals straight to end up tied up 5-5. This was right after the 4th goal he scored. Always tell him the results don’t matter, all I care about is the effort. by @keliiheen
