An actor, an accomplished singer and songwriter, and, above all, a generous philanthropist and advocate.

She advocated for child literacy and donated hundreds of millions of books worldwide, she created a fund for disaster relief, she funded medical facilities and research including the development of the COVID vaccine, she gave money to high school students in her home county that drastically cut the dropout rate and offered scholarships. She donated to revitalize a historically Black neighborhood in Nashville, she supported the LGBTQ+ community and their rights while speaking out against religious judgment and harmful legislation, she advocated for animals facing extinction and against cruelty to animals, she championed gender equality.

And she did all of it without making anything about politics.

She never shied away from speaking her mind or telling the truth, usually with a side of humor. She will be missed far beyond the world of country music. She will remain a legend, an icon, and a model for what it means to make the world a better place.

This one really hurts. She had just talked about how she was on the mend and appeared at the opening of her travel stop.

Sophie is one! I don't know if she'll ever be an adult cat, I think she'll be a forever kitten.

She loves puzzles, plastic springs, her tunnel, attacking my feet, playing in water, treats, opening boxes, her laser pointer, chasing balls, waking me up by getting right in my face, her fuzzy ball that makes frog sounds, and napping in the weirdest positions.

She's too smart for her own good (and mine), sassy, a cuddle bug, and a drama queen. And I am but her humble servant. 💜
