Ryan Michael White, my dear friend of 25 years, you'll be missed by all who were lucky enough to know you. We mistakingly believe we'll have more time to say the things we left unsaid or that we'll see each other again. I wish I had the chance to tell you how much your friendship meant to me.

From our dress up nights out, rentin' in Renton, parties in my Kirkland condo, trivia nights, snowboarding, camping trips, Thunderbird games, and so much more. You showed up with your presence, humor, style, and fun. You were an engaging and captivating storyteller. And you would keep me laughing all night.

I remember when you bought Seahawks tickets to the Rams game... in St. Louis... on accident. You decided to go and I used my miles to join you. When we won, in the last second with a Josh Brown filed goal, we celebrated by doing cartwheels in our jerseys in front of the arch, while Rams fans yelled, "Merry Christmas!" out the windows at us. I was always so happy to see you carry on the tradition of traveling to see the Seahawks play.

What I appreciate the most, no matter how much time and distance came between us, we could pick up where we left off, like old times. You've always been a joy to be around. I was so excited when you and Amy made the trek to Olympia to come to a bon fire at my new house. And had I known that would be the last time I'd see you in person, I would have hugged you and told you that I loved you.

Thank you for being an all around good dude, who cared for others, was present, fun, and could liven any party. You are so missed and loved. by @kelliamohr

1. Document the “why,” not just the “what.”

Share the context behind decisions, lessons learned, community relationships, and what momentum should continue into the next League year.

2. Lead with trust, not control.

A successful transition means empowering incoming leaders to lead in their own style. Support them, be available, and then give them room to build, innovate, and grow.

3. Celebrate continuity and fresh ideas.

Junior League thrives when we honor the work that came before while welcoming new energy. The best transitions create stability and excitement for what’s next.

There’s something powerful about a room full of people who believe books can change lives. 📚✨

This morning at the South Sound Reading Foundation’s Readers are Leaders breakfast, that belief felt real. From the mission moments and the community behind it, this work is shaping futures right here in our backyard.

💥 1 MILLION books distributed (they hit that milestone just last week!)
💛 25 years of showing up for kids
📖 Thousands of young readers reached every single week

When kids have access to books, they don’t just learn to read, they build confidence, curiosity, and possibility.

Grateful to be part of a community that invests in the next generation in such a impactful way. Let’s keep turning pages and opening doors. 🚪📚
