When we are in a state of high stress, anxiety, or overwhelm (dysregulation), our brains go into survival mode. In those moments, it is incredibly difficult to learn a new coping skill or think logically.
That’s why the work we do when we are calm and grounded is important. The daily practices, the small boundaries, and the nervous system toning is so vital. You are essentially building a muscle memory for your peace. Don’t confuse support with validation. Support from others is important. Validation from others soothes us temporarily. We must trust ourselves and have confidence in ourselves in order to feel regulated long term. Validate yourself ☀️
