SO PLEASED TO ANNOUNCE THIS!! On September 12 𝕃𝕦𝕔𝕚𝕗𝕖𝕣 ℍ𝕖𝕒𝕣𝕥𝕖𝕕 𝕎𝕠𝕞𝕖𝕟, a 4 song EP written & performed by me & Exene Cervenka, will finally be birthed into this world.

This project started back in 2019 when Exene gave me access to five giant tubs of her poetry/lyrics and said "go for it". Yes, that's right, one of my favorite lyricists in the world gave me unlimited access to their poetry and entrusted me to craft some great songs out of it. The songs came relatively quickly, but then I was diagnosed with cysts in my vocal cords, a pandemic hit the world, and blah blah blah- it got shelved and never recorded! UNTIL!!! About 2 years ago when we convinced the very talented @davidjcarpentermusic to build a lil home studio at Exene's and produce these songs. We were also given percussion & drums from X's own DJ Bonebrake as well as additional guitar on a track from @eliastita. And then, because he's amazing and we could dream of no one better, we asked @bradwood_producifer to mix it for us. So big thank you to all those guys as well as Mike Rouse who's helped us with all the logistics of getting this baby out there and printing the vinyl. And to Peyton!!! Who figured out the layout and design for me & Exene's art. Aka she made it actually fit on a record and look good!

I love these songs so freaking much. This is a very different project than anything I've ever made before and I love every single moment captured. I love how DIY and alive every song feels. Exene's words are so powerful and packed such an emotional punch long before I got involved (by the way some of the words we used Exene wrote back in the early 80s!) The lyrics I contributed are some of my favorites I've ever written. I love singing with Exene. I love creating with her. She's changed my life in a million ways, all for the better and shaped me to become the artist I am today. I am so proud to get to finally put this in the world with her. And I can't wait for you all to listen.

I lost one of my best friends a couple nights ago to a car crash. We met when we were 12 years old. We both were in 2 piece bands with our sister. We both had families that loved outsider art and loved road trips and loved each other. Thank GOD because that allowed us to spend so many holidays and birthdays and amazing concerts and life milestones together despite never living in the same state as one another. Her name was Kreigh Barnette I absolutely cannot believe I'm writing about her in the past tense. She was SO full of life. Mischievous and hilarious. Drop dead gorgeous. Extremely stylish and crafty. She completely eclipsed my musical knowledge the moment she started working at a record store and was always able to show me some obscure wonderful gem. But the best part of her was how much she could lift your spirits and how generous she was when she loved you. She made me feel really lucky to be alive and really special to be the person I am. We loved talking about our crushes and laughing at ourselves when they went horribly wrong. We loved a crazy flashy thrift store find, we would get determined to make a random thing that could be hideous so glamorous. We both loved awkward and uncomfortable movies but her taste once again was even more obscure and edgy than mine.

The amount of similarities that would pop up time and time again in our lives even from thousands of miles away from one another and with some times months in between catching up- it was uncanny. For example, I remember both having crushes on douchey Timothee Chalamet wannabe boys in IDENTITICAL sounding derivative bands, I remember both having our lives upended by creepy older men who offered us "free" living situations.... I remember how proud we were to have such similar families and how good it felt to know someone who loved their family as much as I did and never question my love and devotion to my family when I needed to vent about them or vice versa. Because end of the day we both knew OUR FAMILIES WERE THE FUCKING COOLEST! And it was even cooler to know that everyone in our families really loved each other.

I got to go to her homecoming with her and we asked the DJ to play MIA's "B by @kellipolly

The dress I'm wearing in these pics was given to me by one of my heroes, Kat Bjelland, of Babes in Toyland. She told me Courtney Love gave it to her. It felt sacred, so for over ten years I hardly wore it, but then lately I've felt it's a shame to let it live untouched in a suitcase. I'd much rather make beautiful memories in it and risk the inevitable death of the dress - because NOTHING LASTS FOREVER!

For the past month we've been fostering this absolute ANGEL named Yogi from @angelcitypits

He LOVES car rides, toys, treats, and anything he's allowed to chew on for a bit. He gets really confused and fascinated by mirrors. He's a great walker & great snuggler. He makes the funniest noises and loves to squish himself into tiny spots that he's too big for. He's a big guy but he's VERY gentle and acts like a little baby. He's 8 years old and they told us he was pretty blind and deaf but the longer he stayed with us the less blind and deaf he seems to become. 🤯

If you have the means & love dogs - fostering is a really nice way to help out a sweet pup and make it's life a lot better. @angelcitypits are a wonderful organization and have a lot of ways you can help! by @kellipolly
