I don’t entirely remember the exact moment but somehow, in what feels like the blink of an eye, my little boy has become an incredible young man. I never saw this chapter arriving so quickly, and yet here you are—strong, kind, driven, funny, and becoming more yourself with every passing day. Throwback! After all of us impromptu dancing to this song randomly played live in Whistler Square….Remember how mad D was when we showed up with 70 cheeseburgers and 70 large fries when he’d just had a $tupid amount of sushi catered! Until everyone was getting tossed a cheeseburger from the best man to Lundin and all the bridesmaids! Aunty Shanon @coreshotsfitness took great care of “baby Dane” (all aunties will never NOT call him this). In true Aunty style she fed him lots, set him up at her gym, and took him for reflexology on his feet. In true Dane style he ate an unusual amount of food, cooked an unusual amount of food, and made aunty watch basketball. 🏀 🫶🏼 Thank you also Sue & Rich for the unbelievable hospitality!! by @kellsschmidt

Today would have been your 55th birthday! Not a day goes by that I don’t think about you and wish you were here! You would be so incredibly proud of your niece and nephews Darren. I will be forever grateful for how you lived your life and the experiences you chased. You taught us all to just live life to the absolute fullest and without regrets. I still struggle to do this but I am getting better at it. I will and have been working on never giving up the fight like you made me promise, and recently have been reminded of just how precious our time here is and what actually matters at the end of it all. I’m having less cupcakes because the gluten free ones taste like shit but I’ll pick one up and put a candle in it today! And yes, your nephew Dane really enjoys driving as much as you did and insists on playing this “uncle Darren song” whenever he’s driving me around 🙄.- Kiddo XO by @kellsschmidt

So many feels preparing for today. Dane may not grasp the magnitude of this day for me and I feel that is ok, better probably. My 6’6” baby turns 16 today and my heart explodes with pride every time I watch him, catch his grin, see him look at his dad, watch him becoming a leader, teaching me things, and when I’m lucky ~ lets me steal a hug! I would have given him anything today and he wanted to be in a gym with his dad! Love you kiddo xo by @kellsschmidt
