I had an excellent time working on the concept, layout design and illustrations for James’ feature in the new issue of LoHi Mag, which also serves as a teaser for James’ debut cookbook that him and I will be releasing in the not-too-distant future.

We did this shoot in me -n- Juicy’s Miami Beach backyard, with a dead iguana somewhere upwind that disappeared as soon as the burgers hit the grill 💨

IN THE NEWS: “Artists turn Margaritaville inside out at Locust Projects.” 🍹🌴🗞️ Read the full story by @michellef_solomon  for @artburstmiami_  in the @miamiherald at our “In the News” link in bio.

“Just vibes and happy hour and drinks and everything is fine. But there really is this absolute underlying dark side to Margaritaville, which was really what we wanted to dig a little deeper into.”
— Kelly Breez

Through monumental sculptures, video, and an anti-colonialist memorial library housed inside a 12-foot-tall pair of cargo shorts, Lost Shaker of Salt examines tourism, leisure, cultural consumption, and the fantasy of paradise sold as a lifestyle brand. 🏝️📚✨

💥 On view now at Locust Projects through June 20.
📍 Tuesday–Saturday | 11am–5pm | Always free

Lost Shaker of Salt is a @knightfdn Digital Commission.

Kelly Breez and Patty Gone: Lost Shaker of Salt, 2026
Installation view at Locust Projects, photo by Pedro Wazzan

Locust Projects presents Lost Shaker of Salt, a newly commissioned installation by artists Patty Gone and Kelly Breez. Transforming the mythology of Margaritaville into a queer, anti-colonial shrine, the artists ask: who gets to inhabit the fantasy of paradise–and who built it? A monumental pair of cargo shorts houses a reading room, a sports bar beckons and a twelve-foot spilled margarita becomes an altar to Jimmy Buffett.

The exhibition dismantles the narrow dream of the “good life” sold by Margaritaville–a world of endless sunsets, tropical leisure, and carefree retirement–by exposing the social and historical contradictions beneath its cheerful imagery. Through humor and camp spectacle, Lost Shaker of Salt poses a pointed question: who gets to live in paradise, and who is left outside its gates?

On view through July 18th 🩴 by @kellybreez

Please enjoy this ✨zen BTS✨of the making of my GIANT CARGO SHORTS 🩳!!! for my two-person show/ collaborative installation with @patty.gone , ‘Lost Shaker of Salt’ 🧂 on view now at @locustprojects 🧂

These cargo shorts were made entirely from sails. Many of them are my Dad’s old sails (many of you know that I fabricate my large-scale work with my Dad Rick, wearer of every hat ever) some of which we sailed to Key West with, down to the Dry Tortugas and back.
Sewing them into this project has my sentimental heart on the brink 💞

On January 14th my adventurous, beautiful, darkly funny, talented and courageous Mom died.
It feels surreal.

She was incredibly moved by music. She played the violin and piano and wherever she was, there were tunes.
She was deeply empathetic, a trait that defined the entirety of her life. When I was little she would take me to random nursing homes to visit with elderly people she didn’t know, just to spread good energy to lonely people. Seems obvious to me now that that level of caring would usher her into decades of work in the non profit sector.

She fought tooth and nail to not succumb to breast cancer for 28 years. (!!!!) Words cannot express how proud I am (we all are) of everything she overcame in order to be around for all of us, on essentially borrowed time… and all of the super dark jokes about it all that she left in her wake.
The past 3 years of taking care of her was like life bootcamp. I feel lucky to have gotten to experience all of it, especially with her, even if it was hard.
Spending most of your life waiting for the other shoe to drop, and then it finally dropping, is a lot. Turns out.

Really going to miss the sound of her mischievous laugh. And the way her hands looked. And how she could turn a dead twig into a thriving tree. Watching Jeopardy without her has felt soul crushing.

Thank you so unbelievably much to every single person that made this a little easier for us. Every call and text and flower and pep talk stretched for milesssss and I love you. <3

Just when you thought you had enough of the red carpet towel, there’s more! The @beachtowelartshow is an open invitational during Art Basel in Miami Beach where artists make custom beach towels.

Much love to the shows founder @upperhandart for making it all come together and to our red towel hosts @kellybreez + @theonlychristhatmatters.

LIVE from the red carpet of the second annual @beachtowelartshow, it’s Joan Rivers, it’s Carson Kressley, no it’s @kellybreez and @theonlychristhatmatters!

We rolled out a 30 foot red carpet towel to bring you the wettest gossip and the hottest South Beach tea during Art Basel.

The @beachtowelartshow is an open artists invitational where artists make custom beach towels and display them on the sands of South Beach. It’s quickly become a safe, vamp-free space during art week where artists from near and far come together to celebrate surviving one of the longest weeks of the year.

Big ups to the shows founder @upperhandart for making all this come together and for building community fr fr.
