Are you aware of these common estate planning pitfalls?

✅ Having only one will as a couple can mean that your assets go to the wrong person.
✅ People who are named guardians for your underage children may not be aware of their responsibilities.
✅ Not listing your assets can make it difficult for your loved ones to distribute your property after you die.
✅ Protecting your future starts with steering clear of these three key mistakes.

Save this post and thank me later!

Proud of this girl right here. She wanted to vote in person for her first time at the polls. She mapped out her classes and yesterday drove home from college for over 2 hours to vote for the first time. Then she drove back to school the same day to be ready for class today. I have always been a voter but over the summer, as a family we learned more about the march from Selma to Montgomery and I was reminded of the sacrifices that were made for African Americans to have the right to vote. I started to instill that it’s not just Me but that WE are a voting family. Seth is ready to vote on Friday. It felt great to be a part of passing the baton to the next generation. by @kellyjacksonking

You may work alone, but you don't operate without risk.

When you're a solo business owner, you're the CEO, the salesperson, the service provider, and sometimes the person handling contracts and chasing unpaid invoices.

And when a legal question comes up, there's no in-house legal department to turn to.

A client disputes an agreement. A contract contains a clause you don't understand. A business deal doesn't go as planned.

These situations can affect your time, money, and the business you've worked hard to build.

You may not need a full-time attorney. But knowing where to turn when legal questions arise can make a difference.

Protecting your business isn't just about making more money. It's also about protecting what you've already built.

If you're a solo business owner, what's one part of running your business you wish you had more support with?

No question about it. The Local Link is a different kind of networking community!

Even with parking surprises and tech glitches, our latest gathering reminded us what happens when people commit to showing up for one another!

We came together to Show Up, Link Up, and Level Up while exploring a skill every business owner needs: handling questions and objections with integrity.

💡 Four takeaways from our conversation:

1. Listen to understand the concern.
2. Relate by finding common ground.
3. Share a story to make your message relatable.
4. Explore the fit to see if your solution meets their needs.

Remember: Questions and objections are opportunities for engagement. Silence is what should concern you!

🌟 Spotlight on Health, Wellness & Impact

Leslie Samara of Rise Above Health Coaching shared sustainable habits for lifelong health through snacking, movement, supplementing, and thinking. Her question for us: Who do you know who wants to be healthy for life?

Brooke Hacker of Brooke Three Wellness, Doctor of Physical Therapy and Certified Yoga Instructor, shared her passion for wellness, entrepreneurship, freedom, and creating impact. She also explored the four cash flow quadrants and how a system can help move a business into the Business quadrant.

Two different approaches. One shared commitment: helping people thrive!

🤝 The Local Link Difference

Our goal is simple: Everyone leaves better than they arrived.

Whether it's a new connection, referral, partnership, skill, or fresh perspective, we believe networking should be meaningful, welcoming, productive, and fun.

No gatekeepers. No secret handshakes. Just business owners learning, connecting, and creating opportunities together.

You’ve worked hard to build your business. But have you prepared for what happens if you can’t run it?

Imagine waking up tomorrow unable to answer calls, make decisions, sign documents, or manage daily operations.

Who has the authority to step in?

Would your team know what to do? Could your business keep serving customers? Would your family know how to protect what you’ve built?

These aren’t easy questions, but they’re important ones.

Many business owners spend time planning for growth, managing cash flow, and finding new customers. Yet one overlooked part of running a business is preparing for the unexpected.

Your business continuity plan shouldn’t depend on you always being available.

Depending on your business structure and circumstances, preparation may include documenting key processes, identifying who can make decisions, reviewing relevant legal documents, and getting appropriate professional guidance.

Because protecting your business isn’t just about building something that succeeds while you’re there. It’s also about preparing it to handle the unexpected.

Let me ask you: If you couldn’t work for 30 days, what’s the one thing your business would struggle with most?

Share your thoughts in the comments. It’s a conversation worth having before you need the answer.

Do you really need an attorney if you're running a small business?

It's a question many entrepreneurs ask, especially when they're trying to keep expenses low.

You might think legal help is something to look into when your business grows, a client refuses to pay, or someone threatens to sue.

But legal questions can come up much earlier than that.

Think about the agreements you sign, the contracts you send clients, the people you hire, and the decisions you make about your business structure.

What happens when you don't understand a clause in a contract? Or when a business arrangement doesn't go as planned?

You don't have to wait for a problem to become a crisis before looking for guidance.

And no, having a small business doesn't mean you need a full-time attorney on your payroll.

It means knowing where to turn when legal questions come up and understanding what resources are available to you.

Because protecting what you're building is part of building a business, too.

Business owners, have you ever avoided asking a legal question because you were worried about the cost?

I'd love to hear your perspective.
