Last year, on my birthday, I received an agreement that would quietly become one of those life moments I’ll never forget.

I was invited to shoot a pilot for Netflix.

I saw this as my lane to get my foot in the door with Netflix Team, especially being in front of the camera. I’m usually much more comfortable creating the world, building the vision, designing the experience and making things happen behind the scenes.

But sometimes life asks you to step into a room you never planned on entering.

So I said yes.

Netflix flew me out. I filmed the entire pilot. I was compensated for my work. I went through the full experience, from the agreements and travel to production, cameras, long days, uncertainty, laughs, conversations and the strange feeling of realizing, “Wow… I’m really doing this.”

But the greatest part wasn’t simply being able to say I worked with Netflix.

It was the people.

I met an incredible group of individuals who became my pilot family. For a moment in time, we were all part of building something that did not fully exist yet. We were the experiment. We were helping producers test an idea, find the heartbeat of a show and determine what this thing could ultimately become.

And now the show has been picked up.

That makes this hit differently.

Because there is something powerful about seeing an idea when it is still fragile, unfinished and uncertain, then watching it become real. Most people only see the finished product. They see the title, the trailer, the episodes and the success. Very few people get to stand inside the beginning.

Congrats to the Main Cast!

That experience reminded me that every chapter of your life does not have to become your permanent identity to have meaning. Reality television still isn’t the lane I’m building, but I will forever be grateful that I was willing to step outside of what was familiar and help bring something new to life.

A year later, I can look back and say:
