Meet the founder 🧡 Hey I’m Laura! Founder, designer and creative behind Kelp Collective, a graphic design studio based by the sea in Newquay, Cornwall. I work with colourful, personality-filled lifestyle brands that want to stand out, tell their story and build a world people want to be a part of! But I didn’t start out as a graphic designer… I actually studied fashion design before launching my own reworked vintage clothing brand. After that, I spent several years helping creative founders grow their business with strategy, admin and marketing support. I loved working with incredible founders and watching their businesses flourish, but I kept finding myself pulled in the direction of the creative side of things. So I retrained in graphic design! And now, I combine everything I’ve learned from fashion, business strategy, and design to create my thoughtful, joyful design that helps creative businesses feel like themselves. Whether that’s through brand identity, website design, marketing materials, illustrations or clothing designs… my favourite projects are the ones where we can build an entire world together! When I’m not designing you’ll find me surfing, wandering around a vintage market, walking my kelpie dog Nala (the real CEO of Kelp Collective) or heading off on my travels. Kelp has had a glow up ✨ It only felt right to give my own brand a little refresh as I’m relaunching into a graphic design studio! I’ve been doing some reflecting recently and when I look at everything going on right now I realise just how far I’ve come!! At the beginning of this year I genuinely couldn’t even come to terms with calling myself a designer, and now when I meet someone and they ask me what I do I’m introducing myself as a graphic designer! I’m taking on paid work, I’m pitching for projects, I’m getting paid to DRAW like wtf. At some point I must have stopped feeling like I was pretending and that feels god damn good 🧡🧡 just a little reminder to myself that I’m already living some of things I used to dream about!! by @kelpcollective_

I’m just gonna come out and say it, Scotland and Ireland has waaaaay more impressive seaweed than Cornwall. Sorry but it was just so deliciously coloured and I got a bit obsessed with taking photos of it and just couldn’t wait to get home and make some dreamy colour palettes with it all. We’ve said every year for the last few years that we’ll go away for August, because we live in Cornwall it’s just crazy and stressful and full of people, and so overwhelming. And this year, we finally did it. A trip like no other! I don’t know where it came from but somehow we decided to pack up our lovely little van Bluebell with our amazing tent (thank you @boutiquecamping !!) and drive as far north on this little island as we possibly could! An epic month of adventures around the north coast of Scotland, the outer Hebrides, and west coast of Ireland. And I got to spend it all with the two loves of my life!! There was sunshine, waves, storms, wind, laughter, music, waterfalls, cows, horses, lakes, mountains, lots of rain and shit loads of driving (mainly for my husband) and I will never ever forget this most incredible month 🧡 by @kelpcollective_

Meet Crush 🍋‍🟩🍊🍍🍋🍉 A playful fruit soda brand I created! It’s inspired by vintage surf posters, tropical escapes and delicious fresh fruit on hot beachy days. I had so much fun creating the brand identity, illustrations, packaging and art direction for this brand, and building a whole little world around it.
