Wanted to add something very eye-appealing to my editorial project for The Stagewell. Thank you @carol.yaps for the library tutorial, it was just what my project needed.

The magic you never see — the systems, the planning, and the quiet work that happens before a single rehearsal begins. This is where the show is actually built.

I wanted to post this on my story and go but I need us to deep this for just a moment. When we talk about community often times it typically involves moms dads kids and making sure their needs are met. However there is a huge demographic of people who also deserve community. Yall know how you throw baby showers and you give the parents gifts to prepare for their kid(s) or at a wedding you give gift so that the partnership starts on a foundation to built to last or even house warming parties. Community should be here for moments like the screenshot above. Getting Uber/Lyft gift cards, meal prep their lunches so they aren’t eating pbj or ramen in office, pay for a hair cut or hairstyle so they not looking bummy that first month. I know it’s hard to show up for people now because it’s a risk that most cannot afford but community is important. There are MANY levels of community (I’ll get more into that later, maybe idk I’m so back logged with shyte) but overall community TO ME is about putting up and showing up! Period! Do it or don’t but we are always in some shape form or fashion taking care of those who cannot for whatever reason fill that gap themselves. Annnnyyyyywayyyyy happy Mars in Cancer (my natal mars so you’ll see how I’ve been living my whole life). Cannot believe 2024 is almost up what a funky little year? Stay up 📿 by @kelsdab

ACTORS!!!! This is your bible. When I was prescribed this book my sophomore year in college studying theatre I gathered it to be another book I’d be purchasing just to use for the semester and then never crack open again. Welp here I am 3 years post grad cracking this baby open and SHE IS HITTING!!!!!! Seriously I know a lot of people want to break into acting and if you feel pulled to do so do it, but understand you are a magician casting spells so it’s imperative that you do the PHYSICAL work first. A lot of people will tell you too take an improv class or acting classes but those two things aren’t progressive for actors if you aren’t taking movement classes FIRST. Say what you will but you cannot show up for yourself, your colleges, your director, your tech crew or your audience until you are PHYSICALLY aware of yourself. Physical movement continues to paint a non-verbal narrative of your character when there isn’t dialogue. .
